Melvin Thomas Raines Jr., age 65, was called home to God on Sunday, July 25, 2021 in Tomball, Texas after a hard-fought battle with cancer. He was born December 7, 1955, in Littlefield, Texas to Melvin and Evelyn (Hardy) Raines. He enjoyed spending time on the water, was an avid golfer and most of all loved spending time with his family. He ran his father's grocery store in Plainview, Texas, graduated from Plainview high school and was an active member of First Baptist Church where he sang in the choir. He attended his beloved Texas Tech University then relocated to Austin, Texas. In Austin, he established himself and excelled in the mortgage business, biding his time until he met the love of his life, Debra. He loved her at first sight and loved her children, Sean and Rachel, as his own. Together, as a family, they relocated to Tomball, Texas. Tom was the best husband, father, brother, uncle, friend and man. He was truly loved and cherished by all. He had an enormous heart for people and made every room he entered a brighter place.

He is preceded in death by his parents Melvin Raines and step-mother, Arleta (Gresham) Raines; mother and father-in-law, Richard and Judy Neff and his aunt, Geneva Tuttle.

He is survived by his wife, Debra (Neff) Raines; children, Sean Fry, Rachel (Fry) Dillard and Nicholus Dillard; grandson, Carden Dillard; brother, Mark Raines (Trinity Raines); brother-in-laws, Tim Neff, Scott Neff and Rick Neff; nephews, Bradley Raines, Stan Raines (Emily Raines), Roy Gann (Briana Gann); niece Dawn Davenport; aunts Juanita Wright, Melba (Cookie) Rankin and Wanda O'Neal (Bill O'Neal), numerous cousins, great nieces and nephews.

Tom handled the adversities in his life with grace and dignity as only he could. He remained positive, maintained his great sense of humor and passion for life until he was called home to God. He will forever be in our hearts.

Tom's celebration of life is Friday, July 30, 2021 at 10am at Klein Funeral Home. 1400 W Main Street, Tomball, TX 77375.

Stan Raines has graciously offered to open his home to family and friends for fellowship following the service.
