Melvin "Sonny" Ernest Drews, age 86, passed away peacefully on Monday May 11, 2026, in Cypress, TX.

Sonny was born on September 16, 1939, in Giddings, TX to Ernest and Hilda Drews. He was known for his generous heart and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Whether family, friends, or strangers, Sonny was someone others could always count on for support and kindness.

Sonny is survived by his sons, Steven Drews and Timothy Drews; his granddaughters, Tiffany Riva and Tarrah Drews; his great-grandson, Trevor Clopton; his brothers, Lawrence "Boise" Drews, Wallace "Wally" Drews, and Wolford "Tiny" Drews; and his sisters, Lavern Jackson and Darlene Drews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hilda and Ernest Drews; his beloved wife, Carolyn Drews; and his brother, Eugene Drews.

Sonny was a dedicated Master Plumber who spent many years working for C.D. Brow and Son Plumbing before proudly starting his own business, M. Drews Plumbing Company. He was known for his strong work ethic, craftsmanship, and the care and dedication he brought to every job he completed. Sonny enjoyed cooking in BBQ cookoffs, hunting, and most of all, cherishing time spent with family and friends. He also enjoyed countless memorable evenings at the VFW in Cypress, where he shared stories, laughter, and friendship. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and was actively involved in volunteering at benefits, charity fundraisers, and community events, leaving a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

The family invites guests to gather for visitation at Klein Funeral Home-Tomball, (1400 W. Main St, Tomball, TX 77375), on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 from 6:00 PM- 8:00 PM.

The funeral service honoring Sonny's life will be held in the main chapel of Klein Funeral Home-Tomball, the afternoon following, Thursday, May 21, 2026 at 2:00 PM.

Final place of rest immediately after the chapel service at Klein Memorial Park-249 Pinehurst.
