Melissa Lynn Murray Tubb died peacefully at her home in Spring, Texas, on May 11, in the caring presence of her daughter Penny Tubb and her granddaughter Keely Williams. She was preceded in death in 2018 by her husband of 53 years, Mack Tubb. Her daughter Libby Garavito resides in Tomball, Texas.

Melissa was born in Madison, Wisconsin in 1944 and was raised on a farm in Lake Creek, Oklahoma by her parents Raymond and Mildred Murray. She was a graduate of Granite High School and Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha. She was a speech-language pathologist and special education program coordinator for Spring Independent School District until her retirement in 2016.

Melissa and Mack married in 1965 and lived in Chickasha where she taught special education and attended East Central Oklahoma University while Mack finished his law degree at Oklahoma University. They moved to Hereford, Texas, where they raised their children and where Melissa taught school and Mack built a law practice, until the family relocated to the Houston area in 1985.

In addition to her daughters and granddaughter, Melissa was deeply loved and is survived by grandchildren Jacob, Noah, and Ainslie, great granddaughter Avery Kate, son-in-law Gonzalo Garavito, and grandson-in-law Andrew Williams, all of the Houston area; and her sister Susan and niece Lucy Murray of Washington, DC. Her sister Nancy died in 1975. She also has loving cousins in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Michigan, and Canada.

Melissa counted many, many dear Spring ISD colleagues, friends, and crafting and scrapbooking partners as part of her extended family. Although Parkinson's disease prevented her from as many visits with her friends in recent years, she remembered and spoke of them often. She also spoke fondly of her childhood home and longtime family friends in western Oklahoma, and how 'the three Murray girls" worked on the farm alongside their parents. She often spoke of wanting to "go home" to Lake Creek.

Donations to St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, where staff lovingly cared for Melissa's sister Nancy, are welcomed, as are donations to the Colonel Randy Holland Memorial Lecture Series on Melanoma .
