Obituary for Meldon Gale Collins Sr. (Whitey)

Meldon Gale Collins Sr., known affectionately as "Whitey," passed away on November 9, 2024, at the age of 90. Born on December 21, 1933, in Tennessee, Whitey lived a full and meaningful life, touching the hearts of many along the way.

Whitey served his country with honor in the U.S. Navy, a chapter in his life that he carried with pride. He was a man of many talents, with a love for baking and a remarkable green thumb that allowed him to grow anything he set his mind to. His family and friends will always remember his warm presence, generous spirit, and the delicious treats he shared with those he loved.

He is survived by his brother Bill; his daughter Chere Wedgeworth; his granddaughters Rachel Wedgeworth and Melissa Collins; his grandson Riley Wedgeworth; stepdaughters Linda McGregor and Debbie Hartnett; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Wanda; his parents Beulah and William; his brothers Charlie, JL, Rex, Eldon, Cletus, Dodie, and Jack; his sister Alice; and his daughter Iloe.

Whitey's legacy of love, laughter, and devotion to his family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His memory will be cherished forever.

A ceremony will be held at Klein Funeral Home in Magnolia to honor his life and legacy. The viewing will be November 13th from 12pm-2pm followed by the service.
