Melba Joy Lowrance, age 71, left us while sleeping peacefully on February 19, 2020 at Tomball Nursing Center in Tomball, TX. That day she was so happy, full of life, incredibly active, vivacious, visited her friends in the nursing home and had passed away waiting to go to her birthday party.

Being born on the East Texas family dairy farm in Winnsboro, TX on February 21, (72 years ago today) with piercing blue eyes, the cutest freckles and dimples. She was the daughter of Lee Oliver and Lucille Petty and was 4th out of 5 siblings. Her siblings included Dixie Mullins, Ray Petty, Patsy Dobbins & Linda Petty and all were born by the same doctor and all delivered on the farm. She is predeceased by her siblings Ray and Linda Petty. She was named "Joy" as an expression of the family feelings about her birth.

As a widow of Jerry Lowrance, Melba is survived by her beautiful sisters, Dixie Mullins and Patsy Dobbins; her only child daughter, Melissa Joy Eudy and husband Shawn; grandchildren, Bryce Eudy and Logan Eudy; one great grandchild Veyda Joy Eudy and many nephews and nieces. She loved her family especially her grandkids and great granddaughter and left a legacy of great faith, strong work ethic, philanthropy and being authentic with everyone she met.

Family & friends are invited to attend celebrating her life Sunday February 23, 2020 at 1PM at Rock Creek Community Center, 14223 Winding Springs Drive, Cypress, TX 77429. In honor of my mom's birthday, we will be providing a lite lunch and serve her favorite, Mexican food.

She had a life-long love affair with Dr. Pepper, mexican food, dogs, shoes, butterflies, birds, waves from the ocean, flowers, and fishing.

Took extreme pride in being a Licensed Cosmetologist and enjoyed having a small business of her own.

Melba lived in Haskell, TX for 40+ years and she excelled at growing flowers in her backyard to create a natural habitat for butterflies & birds. Crafting was such a hobby of hers that she had a whole room dedicated to her crafts and tools, but what she is the most known for by many is her cooking. She loved to cook for others and was a true Betty Crocker. She learned to make any recipe better from her mother and that was passed down to all the girls in the family. Melt in your mouth biscuits that used bacon grease, her rolls were made for many functions and loved by all and still requested today by everyone that has ever had them. She continued baking the family Pound Cake recipe and Orange Cookie recipe that has been passed down from generation to generation. Her fried chicken is like none other.

She loved her adopted family at the Tomball Nursing Center and became the President of the Resident Council that conducted mandatory state meetings that addressed concerns & ideas of all residents at the facility. She was loved by many of their amazing dedicated staff.

She will be buried at Gillespie Cemetery outside of Haskell, TX alongside her deceased husband, Jerry Lowrance.

There are not enough words to express how grateful, thankful and blessed we all are for the dedication and teams of doctors, nurses, care givers, hospitals & Hospice that passionately collaborated and loved my mother to the very end. I am forever thankful for your compassion, kindness and dedication of making a difference in not only my mom's life but of many. Special thanks to Tomball Nursing Center for caring for my mother as your own and the hospice team of truly making this transition so peaceful.
