Melba Lucille Thornton Bammel was born December 8 ^th , 1932 to Archie and Ruby Thornton.  She married Charles W. Bammel on September 6 ^th , 1952 and was married for over 51 years before his death in 2004.

Melba was active for many years in her church and loved singing in the choir.  She led the church seniors tour group for many years.  Melba loved cooking and walking, and she was an avid hunter and loved spending time at their farm and ranch and loved spending time down at the bay fishing.

She leaves behind a son, Chester Bammel and his wife, Debra; and a daughter, Carolyn (Carol) Bammel Davis and her husband, John T. Davis.

There are six grandchildren and currently 10 great-grandchildren with one on the way.  They are:

Michelle Bammel Penniman and her husband Clint with their children, Javan and Bowen. Jared Davis and his wife Christel with their children, Grace and Madelyn. Cherith Davis Wells and her husband Micah with their children, Memphis and Paisley. Charles Adam Bammel and his wife Tina with their children, Ashlyn and Austin.  Micah Davis and his wife Lara with their children, Jackson and Sage (with a little boy on the way.) Michael Aaron Bammel and his wife Rae.

She is also survived by a brother William (Bill) Thornton and his wife Alta, brother Lloyd Thornton and his wife Cornelia, sister Doris Thornton Hays and her husband Robert, brother Donald Thornton and his wife Dorothy and sister-in-law Phyllis Thornton.
