Matthew "Matt" Czerniak died on Sunday, June 28, 2020.

He was born to Peter and Stephanie Czerniak in Pontiac, MI on November 20, 1954.

Matt served in the Air Force for 4 years and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University in 1981 and earned membership in Phi Kappa Phi honor society. He achieved a Master of Science from Louisiana State University in 1984.

Matt worked in the Oil Industry as a Geologist for most of his career. Most recently, he started a consulting firm, GCS Solutions, and patented a new method to improve pore pressure predictions.

Matt met his wife Diane in 1991 while they both shared their love of volunteer service at MD Anderson Cancer Center; they were married in 1992. He also had a passion for collecting and restoring vintage Harley-Davidson motorcycles, a hobby from which many lifelong friendships were made.

He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in The Woodlands, TX for the past 20 years.  As he worked through recent health issues, he found solace in praying daily the devotions of the Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet. He also encouraged those close to him to strengthen their faith and grow closer to Christ.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Peter and Stephanie Czerniak, and sister Susanne (Czerniak) Krupsky. He is survived by his wife Diane, his daughter Crystal, his son Spencer, his sister Micki Czerniak, and brother-in-law Keith Krupsky. He is also survived by a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
