Matthew P. Criswell, age 68, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on October 18, 1956, in San Antonio to Norman Herschel and Gloria Faye Criswell. He attended McCollum High School and was a proud member of the school football team where he played quarterback. Matt was a man known for his strength—not just in conviction, but in action. He had a knack for fixing things, whether it was a broken-down car, or a tough situation. If something needed to be built, repaired, or made right, he was there—tools in hand.

While he had many hobbies, his greatest joy in life was his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; his nephew Glen Criswell; his sister-in-law Shirley Criswell, and his beloved wife Deborah K. Criswell.

He is survived by his three brothers Norman Criswell, Danny Criswell and wife Terri Criswell, and Michael Criswell; his first wife, Lea Criswell; his children Kyle Criswell and Kelly Webster; his stepchildren Devon Sebren and husband Josh, and Danielle Wilson and husband Jeremy; his six step- grandchildren Kaitlyn, Deacon, Dottie, Miles, Ellie, and Landry; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Matt lived out his faith through action—always encouraging and loving those around him. He was quick to enter a friendly debate and quick to offer a hug when someone needed it most. He taught those around him what it meant to love through service, to laugh when life throws you a curveball, and to show up when it counted.

He leaves behind a legacy not just in what he built, but in the lives he touched—each one stronger for having known him.

A funeral service celebrating Matt's life will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 20, 2025, at Klein Funeral Home - CyFair Northwest, 9719 Wortham Blvd., Houston, TX 77065.
