Matt was born on July 31, 1965 to Arthur and Geneva Calley. After graduating from Sam Rayburn High School,
Matt joined the Houston Police Department and married his high school sweetheart , Tammy Lee McKnight in August 1986. Matt and Tammy moved to their home in Magnolia in 1992 where they raised their two children, Rebecca and Tyler.
While serving as a Houston Police Officer, Matt was involved in several different divisions and retired from the Parole Violators Division after 25 years with the Department. Matt loved hunting of any fashion- deer, duck, dove, squirrel, even the occasional pond turtles and wild hogs. A lover of all things country, Matt served on the Calf Scramble Committee of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for several years until his retirement. Matt loved adventure and took his family on as many as he could throughout the years exploring Disney, road trips to the mountains, floating down rivers, but he loved cruising on the open water with his bride most of all. Matt leaves behind a loving family who will miss him dearly,
but who rejoice in knowing he is at peace at home with The Father.
