Mattalou Arbaugh left this Earth on November 15, 2018. She was born in Wichita, Kansas on May 30, 1937 to Matthew McCoubrey and Cleo Shelburne McCoubrey. During the Great Depression, her father worked as a coal miner and later prospered by owning two Pharmacies in Altus Arkansas. When she was 13 years old, her father died. Mattalou and her mother lived with family in Altus, where she attended high school. After graduating, she met her soulmate, James, and they moved to Houston to start their lives together. While raising two wonderful sons, she followed in her father and mother's footsteps by working as a Pharmacy Technician for Safeway and Apple Tree grocery stores. Mattalou loved her customers and they always considered her a friend. She also loved raising Great Danes and going to dog shows with her pups. After she retired, Mattalou and her family went on several cruises, which gave her great pleasure.
Mattalou is preceded in death by her parents, husband, James and son James Robert. She is survived by her son, Matt and his wife Michelle, as well as nieces and nephews, and many, many friends who loved her dearly.
Rest well, Mom. Chip and Michelle love you so much.
