Obituary

Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Mathew ("Matt") Pryce Thompson ─ beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend ─ went to be forever with our Lord at the young age of 48. The angels have welcomed quite the entertainer into their gates, as his family lovingly remembers his antics, even as a pre-toddler. As an example, this "little entertainer" used to crawl and back up to the top of the stairs and show off his belly-down sliding skills all the way to the bottom, only to be fueled by repeated, adoring cheers and accolades to do it again! Growing up (mostly in Spring, TX, but with a brief time in Boulder, CO), Matt was the younger of two brothers. He enjoyed the cub scouts and his neighborhood buddies, as well as playing soccer and Little League. His amazing, lifelong creativity and imagination shone brightly even as a youngster, when he created many awesome costumes to suit just about any occasion or holiday.

Matt graduated from Klein High School in 1991 and explored his creative and artistic talents at Harris County Community College. From there, he launched his career as a freelance graphic artist, which he thoroughly enjoyed. Always the passionate animal lover (cats, dogs, insects ─ well, actually just about any living creature!), he tenderly spoiled every family pet throughout the years ─ the latest of which, a 3-legged cat that needed a home and lots of love.

Matt is preceded in death by his father, James ("Jim") C. Thompson. He is survived by his mother, Mary C. Thompson, of Spring, TX; his brother Michael Thompson (wife, Lori) of Georgetown, TX; two nephews, McClane Thompson (wife, Alexa) of Ft. Worth, TX; and Graham Thompson (wife, Tara) of Atlanta, GA; as well as two great-nephews, one great-niece, and as of this writing, a new great-niece or great-nephew soon to arrive.

Klein Funeral Home is handling final arrangements, with cremains to be interred in Albuquerque, NM, next to his Dad's.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Matt's honor to Between Jobs Ministry @Northwest Bible Church would be greatly appreciated.
