Mary "Molly" Walker Barrow, age 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, following complications from Alzheimer's and pneumonia on March 31, 2026.

Born with a vibrant spirit and a one-of-a-kind personality, Molly truly marched to the beat of her own drum.  She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Tyler, Texas, in 1967, and went on to attend Stephen F. Austin before earning her bachelor's degree from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana.  She later received her master's degree in Spanish from the University of Dallas.

Molly devoted 30 years of her life to teaching English and Spanish, leaving a lasting impression on generations of students.  She was an extraordinary educator—poised, professional, deeply respected, and genuinely loved.  One former student fondly remembers her perched casually on her desk while teaching, always in her Birkenstocks, her unmistakable laugh filling the room.  She had a gift for making learning feel meaningful and fun.

Known affectionately as "Kiki Molly," a nickname born from her deep love of cats, Molly cared for 11 feline companions throughout her life and never missed a chance to help an animal in need.  Her compassion extended to everyone she met.  She had a nickname for nearly every person in her life, a reflection of how quickly and warmly she connected with others.

Molly was an avid reader and an impeccable grammarian—the family's go-to spell checker long before technology stepped in.  She also had a deep love for baseball and was a huge Houston Astros fan, faithfully following the team through their highs and their lows!

Molly was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Mary Walker of Houston.  She is survived by her brother, Jack Rew Walker Jr. and his wife, Debbie Koelling Walker; two nieces, Mary Amanda Walker of Dallas, Texas, and Abbey Walker Elliston and husband, Clark, of Kerrville, Texas; one nephew, Jack Rew Walker III (Trey) and wife, Catherine, of Katy, Texas; and six grandnieces and grandnephews.

Above all, Molly was real--she lived authentically, loved deeply, and brought laughter wherever she went.  She will be remembered for her wit, her individuality, and the countless lives she touched as a teacher, a friend, and a beloved member of her family.

She will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
