Obituary

Mary Lou (Miller) Thomas was born in Mascot TN on May 10, 1931. She passed away at Houston Hospice on April 24, 2022. She was 90 years old.  She was preceded in death by her father, Reverend Claude T. Miller and mother, Ruth B Miller, brother, Billy J. Miller, husband, Andrew Hale Thomas, Jr,  Lt. Col USAF and grandson Andrew (Drew) H Thomas IV.

She graduated from Union College in Barbourville KY. Mary Lou was then married on August 30, 1952 in Church Hill TN by her father.  They were married for 60 years.

Being an Air Force bride meant moving a lot!  From Mexico Bch, Fla they went to Great Falls Montana, Fargo, North Dakota, to Minneapolis, Mn to Sioux City, Iowa; Glasgow, Montana; Camarillo, California; Incirlik AB, Turkey; Sumter, SC; Hampton, VA; Fort Walton Beach, Fla. where they retired and finally moving to Cypress, Tx in 2006. They made many friends wherever they moved. Mary Lou started her love for music at the young age of 3, singing at her Father's churches.  This developed into her fine skills as a soloist.  With her Degree in Music and Voice from Union College she continued to be greatly involved in the Base chapels and the Methodist Church wherever she lived.  She served as organist and Choir director in different locations throughout her life.  Mary Lou also taught piano and voice while in Fort Walton Beach for 35 years, having many students learn their craft from her. The family wishes to thank her many caretakers and teams at MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Mary Lou is survived by her Children, Andrew Hale Thomas, III  (Nancy), of Cypress Tx Tamara Susan Nunley (Jeff) of Dothan, Alabama and Teresa Diane Thomas Cruce (Stephen) of Panama City, Fla.  Mary Lou also leaves behind Grandchildren: Angela Lea (Reed) Corbel,(Eric) Andrea Lynn (Reed) Perryman (Brandon), Chad Everett Reed (Katie), Tiffani Sinclair (Thomas) Ross (Josh), Susan Elizabeth Rathburn, Wesley Barron Rathburn (Jessica), Carlisle Baxter Rathburn IV, Mary Margaret (Rathburn) Tittle (Chris), Jeffrey Hunter Hatch Nunley (Regan), Thomas Patrick Nunley, Matthew Paul Thomas (Anna), Stephen Albert Cruce IV, Carmen Kimberly Stewart (Robbie)  and Great-Grandchildren: Thomas Lamar Casteel, Joshua Corbel, Alexis Corbel, Alexandra Grace Perryman, Zachary Luke Perryman, Skylar Sinclair Ross, Siena Mason Ross, Sydney Drew Ross, Noah David Elias Rathburn, Maxwell Andrew Rathburn, Isla Jean Rathburn, Carlisle "Lyle" Baxter Rathburn V, Margaret "Maggie" Elise Tittle, Malia Elizabeth Thomas, Haley Diane Thomas, Koan Zephyr Cruce, Brittany Alred (Cody), Christopher Hare.

Visitation will be at Klein Funeral Home Champions 16131 Champion Forest Dr, Spring, TX on Wednesday May 4, at 8:30 with Funeral services at 10:00.  Interment service will be at Houston National Cemetery at 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX at 1:00.  Remembrances can be left: https://www.kleinfh.com/obituary/mary-lou-thomas?fh_id=16436
