Mary Ann Munn Putman was born in Lubbock, Texas on September 4, 1935, and passed away peacefully in Austin, Texas on February 28, 2023.
Mary Ann grew up in Lubbock and attended Lubbock High School. She was a wonderful pianist and even had a young Buddy Holly sit in to play with her on one occasion, as he also attended the same school.
Mary Ann was very artistic and dabbled in painting, but found her passion in sculpting. She was taught by Trace Guthrie and Eric Kaposta in Houston for years and has many lovely completed works.
Mary Ann had a certain spark that drew people in wherever she went. She was the life of the party without ever trying to be and absolutely loved her various groups of friends, such as the St. Mary's Lane Gang, the "Church Ladies", and her Kappa Kappa Gamma sisters from Texas Tech University.
Family was what Mary Ann treasured most, though. She was team mom for various sports for her sons, as well as Den Leader for Cub Scouts.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Joseph Grover Putman III, and her parents, Neil Harold Munn and Martha Margaret Collier Munn.
Mary Ann is survived by her two sons, Joseph Grover Putman IV and his son Oskar; and John Neil Putman, his wife Rachel, and their son Cooper.
She is also survived by her brother, John William "Bill" Munn and his wife Becky and their children; several loving family members from her husband's side of the family; and many dear friends who she loved.
