Mary Elizabeth Peterson

1944-2026

Mary Elizabeth Peterson Born February 22, 1944 in Houston, TX , passed away on August 10, 2026, in Jersey Village, TX, after a 4 year battle with Ovarian Cancer.  She graduated from Jefferson Davis High School in 1962.  She attended the University of Houston and Massey Business College, She went on to have a career as a Secretary with the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company,

She met her future husband Jon Peterson at her Uncle's grocery store where Jon was working when they were both 16 years of age. She loved working and was blessed to make many lifelong friends with many of her co-workers.

She enjoyed fishing, bowling, Genealogy, and singing in the Jersey Village Baptist Church Senior Choir. She and her husband loved to take road trips together.

The family wishes to extend their appreciation to Dr. Barry Siller and his wonderful staff who made her suffering with cancer easier with their caring ways.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents Walter Harvey Shackelford and Mary Elizabeth Shackelford of Houston, TX, and her Brother Harvey Gene Shackelford of Seabrook, TX. She is survived by her husband and Soul mate of 60 years, Jon Raymond Peterson. She leaves behind her son Christopher Ray Peterson and his Family, her nephew David Gene Shackelford and niece Marigene Shackelford, and Sister-in-law Jewell Ann Goree.
