Celebrating the Life of Mary McFarland a.k.a. Grandma Nicky:

Visitation & Funeral will be held at KLEIN Funeral Home, 1400 West Main, Tomball, TX 77375 with Visitation starting at 9 AM and the Service to begin at 10 AM, funeral service followed by interment in KLEIN Memorial Park at 14711 FM 1488, Magnolia 77355 starting at 12 Noon.

Mary Nicholine (Turner) McFarland, "Nicky" to her family, 90 years of age, of Conroe Texas, passed away due to natural causes on February 16th, 2021. Mary is survived by daughter Lyn McFarland Tew, son & daughter-in-law Mervin & Virginia McFarland, step daughter Shirley McFarland, sister Bobbie Jean Moore, grandchildren Rhonda & Michael Dahn, Robert & Jennifer McFarland, Charla & Jerry Dukes, and Julie & Dwayne Forbes, great grandchildren Kasey Paxton, William Paxton, James Dahn, Benjamin Dahn, Brandon & Haley McFarland, Bridgette McFarland, Garrett McFarland, Johnny Todd Hart, and Cody Jones, and her beloved Graham family. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews and close loved ones, Paula & John Paxton, Sr.

She was predeceased by her parents, including "Mother" Lura Zillie Buntyn Weathers and "Daddy" Orbus Weathers, brother Orbus Muriel Weathers, son-in-law Ronnie Crocker and grandsons John Paxton, Jr. & Angel Crocker Paxton.

Mary was a faithful member of Bethel Tabernacle, who provided spiritual guidance to her loved ones and demonstrated what it truly means to be a Christian. She taught the power of faith, love, hope and charity while she pushed herself and encouraged others to be their best possible self. This Christian foundation fueled her love for all people, without notice of any differences among people – she only cared about what was in a person's heart.

All who knew Mary would agree – she had charisma, she never met a stranger, she loved people and people loved her. These traits served her well in building her sewing business in Baton Rouge, where for many years, she created beautiful wedding dresses, ball gowns and other formal wear. Also, the Baton Rouge Police Department and the East Baton Rouge Highway Patrol relied on her day and night to keep their uniforms serviceable. Many of those who flowed in and out of her shop became valued members of her family of friends.

Growing and sharing her knowledge of African Violets was more than just a hobby for Mary – it was a passion. For almost 50 years, she continued to grow and learn and develop, lead workshops, and win awards even in very recent years. As a Master Lifetime Judge, she was frequently called upon to support local, regional, and national competitions. This passion created opportunities to feed her other passion, to meet people from across the world and from all circles of life.

Mary (Grandma Nicky) will be terribly missed by all that knew and loved her. Losing her has left a hole in all of our hearts. But, precious memories of her, and the knowledge that she's now in Heaven will fill those holes. Gone, but never forgotten.
