Mary Jean Marquart, 83, passed away on Friday, January 19, 2018, after a brief illness.

Mary was born on May 9, 1934, in Houston, Texas, to the late Albert and Lillian Peek. She graduated from Lamar High School. She worked for Prudential Insurance in Houston, Texas, and enjoyed traveling to many places around the United States. Mary met her husband, Kermit Marquart, while bowling in a Houston area Lutheran bowling league. They were married on June 29, 1968, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church. After having Claire and Richard, Mary stayed home and devoted her life to being a wife and mother. She continued to bowl in a Lutheran league with Kermit for many years and was an active member of a local garden club. Mary loved all kinds of flowers and shared that love with her mother and aunt. Mary was also an active member on Concordia Lutheran Church where she was involved with the Alter Guild and Women's Club. She lived the past ten years at Brookdale Assisted Living Facility. She loved to play Bingo and Skip Bo with her friends at Brookdale. Most of all, Mary found happiness being a loving wife, mother and grandma…"Meme".

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Kermit Marquart. She is survived by her daughter, Claire Hoffman and husband Doug; her son, Richard Marquart and wife Rhonda Marquart; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Hoffman, Kyle Hoffman and Tori Marquart; one great grandchild, Luke Marquart; niece, Marilyn Dickerson and husband Elmer Dickerson.

Memorial Service will be held on Monday, January 22, 2018, at 3 p.m. at Concordia Lutheran Church, Houston, Texas. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 21, 2018, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Cy-Fair Klein Funeral Home. For those desiring, memorial contributions can be made to Concordia Lutheran Church
