Mary Lynn Hoffman, 62, of Spring, TX, formerly of Joliet, IL, passed away unexpectedly in her home on Monday, November 6, 2017. Beloved and devoted wife of Sidney F. Bosen, Mary was the loving daughter of the late Helen Hoffman and stepdaughter of the late John Robert Hoffman.
Mary was a true treasure; a deeply caring, genuine, and very generous person. There was neither a person, nor four-legged friend, who came in contact with Mary that did not benefit from her graciousness, kind heart and beautiful spirit. She was the best listener who could instantly lift your spirits. Mary was the kind of person who took the time to make everyone feel welcomed and loved, especially those who needed it most.
One of Mary's greatest passions was serving on the Gordon Setter of America Rescue Program. She would go to any length to ensure all her rescues were placed in the right home, a few times it meant her own. She was a rescue failure! Mary saved the lives of countless Setters and their new owners by bringing them together. Mary was also a phenomenal cook and skilled seamstress. Before and after she was diagnosed with degenerative rheumatoid arthritis, Mary used her skills to cook meals for friends, family and neighbors that were ill or going through rough times; hosted the most wonderful family get-togethers; worked tirelessly to make dog beds, blankets, snoods, and anything else her Setter 'family' needed; made beautiful quilts, blankets, sheets, curtains and clothes for family and friends; and used her sewing skills to make blankets and anything else for veterans and other not-for-profit organizations. Because of her affliction with rheumatoid arthritis and scoliosis, she lived in constant pain but was never one to complain nor let it get in the way of things she needed to do. And despite her health, Mary accomplished things in a day that many accomplished in a week. Mary did everything with selfless love. She will be greatly missed by all.
Mary is survived by her husband, Sidney Bosen; sister, Cheryl (Wesley) Cottle; half-sister, Debbie (Greg) Anzelc; half-brother, Robert "Bobby"; stepchildren, Brian (Maja) Bosen and Lisa Bosen; step grandchildren, Rachel (Thomas) Mamminga, Kevin (Collette) Turkowski, Ashley Turkowski, Onah Bosen, Aidan Bosen, and Julia Bosen. Step great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews also survive her. She is preceded in death by her mother, Helen and stepfather, John Robert; half-sisters, Catherine and Jacquelyn "Jackie" Estep (nee Hoffman); half-brother, Gayle "Hoffee"; and stepson, Stephen "Michael" (Julie) Bosen.
