Mary Ann Warnecke Hare passed into God's glory on October 13, 2021. Born November 19, 1938 in Leipsic, Ohio, to Leo and Clara Warnecke, she was raised on a farm where hard work and discipline were a way of life. Mary Ann was a loving wife of 63 years to Gary Hare, and a caring mother to her children, Karen Greenberg and husband Jeff (Texas) and Mark Hare (Michigan). She was an adoring grandmother to Alex Hare (Michigan), Matt Gamble (Texas) and Kyle Gamble (Kansas), and a beloved sister to Arlene Warnecke (Ohio), Keith Warnecke and wife Kathy (Colorado) and their son Kameron.

Mary Ann finished as the top student of her class from Leispic High School and then went on to attend Tiffin University. Upon graduation she embarked on her career at the Ohio Oil Company in Findlay, Ohio, where she caught the eye of an Indiana native with a 1956 Oldsmobile Super 88 convertible. On their first date she found the electric windows so captivating that Gary envied the attention! But the persistent Gary captured her heart, and they were married in August of 1958 and were soon blessed with two children, Karen and Mark.

Mary Ann took pride in providing her children with opportunities that she never had and kept busy balancing these activities (Camp Fire Girls, Cub Scouts, sports) while working full-time. She also enjoyed playing Bridge in the Marathon league and Euchre and Solo with her family on weekend visits to Leipsic, OH on the farm where she grew up. Christmas was often spent visiting Gary's parents in Florida. Christmas of 1970 brought a special and exciting present in a stocking under the Christmas tree - Gidget, a black toy poodle.  Gidget quickly became Mary Ann's "Gidgy-poo", and a song was composed that Mary Ann played on the piano for her beloved pet!

Mary Ann and Gary always impressed upon their children the importance of a 4-year education and witnessed both Karen and Mark graduate from Bowling Green State University in the early 1980s.  Karen then pursued a career as a teacher and Mark as an IT professional.

Before being transferred to Houston, Texas, in 1983, Mary Ann reached the pinnacle of her career attaining an impressive position as an executive secretary to the vice president at Marathon Oil. Shortly after taking up residence in Houston, Mary Ann and Gary retired after successful 30-year careers.

In the 1990s came the joyful addition of grandchildren, which kept her busy with babysitting, sports, musical concerts and graduations and many trips to Michigan. She also enjoyed cooking and preparing for family gatherings, especially at Christmas when her children and grandchildren were present.

Mary Ann and Gary were members of Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church in Cypress, and Mary Ann supported the church and faithfully attended adoration every Monday.

Visitation will be held from 5-8pm on Monday, October 25 at Klein Funeral Home, Tomball, Texas.  A funeral mass will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, October 26 at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church in Cypress, followed by a private burial at Houston National Cemetery.  Mary Ann's struggles with Alzheimer's the last few years of her life were very difficult; therefore, the family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association at http://act.alz.org/goto/MaryAnnHare
