Obituary

Mary Griffiths passed away August 28, 2023 in Georgetown, TX. Born October 1, 1925 to Bina Eggers Fletcher and Walter Ferd Fletcher in Cove Creek, North Carolina, Mary grew up in Bristol, Tennessee. After graduating from Tennessee High School in Bristol, she lived many years in Fort Worth, Texas, where she worked at Convair (now Lockheed). When her son and daughter-in-law moved to the Houston area, Mary followed and made many life-long friends working as a secretary for an accounting firm, a mayor of Houston, and an oil field equipment supplier. She met the love of her life, Bob (Griff) Griffiths and they were married in August of 1981. Before Griff passed away in March of 1984, they travelled extensively and lived for a time in Japan and South Korea. After Griff's passing, she continued to travel with a devoted partner, William V. (Bill) Bennett.

Mary made many treasured friends in the competitive water-skiing community in the late 1960s and early 1970s and maintained those friendships for many years. Her closest friends were a group of fellow secretaries known as "The Whatever Club". After her retirement, she volunteered at her church assisting Alzheimer's patients at a caregivers' day out program and for the USO at Houston Intercontinental Airport.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Griffiths, her mother and father, brother Jimmy F. Fletcher, son Donald W. Griffiths and grandson Robert A. Griffiths. She is survived by her sister, Lillie Mae Crum, sister-in-law Sharon Fletcher, daughter Susan Lyons and husband Bob, son Mike Pratt and wife Julie, daughter-in-law Barbara Griffiths, granddaughters Robin Griffiths, Carla Satterfield and husband David, Cara King and husband Mike, Caren Doiron and husband Adam, grandsons Johnny Pratt and wife Zoe, and James Pratt and wife Maribeth, great-granddaughters Reagan Satterfield, Brynn King, Camryn King, Payton Doiron, Ella Doiron, and Morgan Pratt, great-grandsons Riley Satterfield, Brody Pratt, Walker Pratt, Jesse Pratt, and Robbie Pratt, niece Patti Mayward and husband Doug, and nephew Ken Crum.

The family would like to thank the loving and caring staff at the Memory Care unit of The Hacienda at Georgetown for their friendship and support.
