After a life filled with love and caring for others, Mary Louise Glauber, of Cypress, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on March 8, 2026. She was born on December 10, 1941 to James Marcellus Barry and Marjorie Mary (Scholl) Barry. The oldest of six, Mary Lou grew up in Dallas, Texas, and attended Catholic schools. After attending Christ the King, she graduated from Ursuline Academy, followed by Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas, where she met and fell in love with Michael "Mike" Glauber.  They married on August 29, 1964 in Dallas, and lived in Texas until Mike's career took the family to Carthage, Missouri in 1969.  After raising their daughters Chris and Marcie in Carthage, Mary Lou and Mike moved to Joplin in 1988.   In 2003, Mary Lou finally returned to her beloved Texas when she, Mike and their grandchild, Caitlin "Dakota" moved to Houston. Family was extremely important to Mary Lou, and God blessed her with abundance. The matriarch of her family, she and Mike regularly hosted family gatherings in their homes. Smart, beautiful, elegant and caring… Mary Lou was a wonderful, strong, gracious woman who will be deeply missed.

Mary Lou was devoted to her family and friends who loved her dearly. She enjoyed spending time, entertaining and traveling with them.  She was fun and so easy to be with. In her active years, she loved golf and tennis, she tolerated skiing, boating and camping because Mike and the kids liked to, and she could always be counted on to get up and dance… especially to "Shout!"  She was a wonderful blend of a philanthropic heart, sharp intellect and social grace.

Mary Lou was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, whose warmth and kindness touched the hearts of all who knew her.  She was beautiful, inside and out.  She (almost singlehandedly) thwarted multiple recessions through her well-known and deep commitment to retail therapy.  She had a keen mind and was a master level bridge player. She participated in study, investment and bridge clubs which brought her many friends and much joy over the years.  She loved books and puzzles of all kinds, especially logic and crosswords, and instilled a love for them in her family.  She was a woman of strength, grace and resilience.  Her love was a constant source of comfort and guidance to those blessed to be a part of her life. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity and love.

Mary Lou lived a life defined by her giving heart. Her warm, calming presence, her selfless nature and classic elegance often masked a profound inner strength and drive to help others.  She led with love in her quiet, refined way… always watching and stepping up when she saw a need.  Mary Lou and Mike modeled philanthropy and inspired others to follow.

She will be remembered for her strength, kindness, steady presence, and the love she poured so generously into her family, friends and community.

Mary Lou is lovingly remembered by her children and grandchildren Christine Glauber, Marcella (James) Montgomery, Caitlin "Dakota" Glauber, Colton Montgomery, Jacob Montgomery and Meredith Montgomery; siblings Janie (Mike) Saxe, Eileen (Ed) Barry-Cocetti, Marcie (John) Merrell, Jim (Alma) Barry, Tom (Renee) Barry; siblings in-law Charlie (Mary Francis) Glauber, Margie (Michael) Herr, Susan Brooks; nephews Ben (Julie) Brooks, Mick Saxe, Tim Saxe, Barry Merrell, Mike Merrell, James (Kelly) Barry, Jeffrey Barry; and nieces Melissa Glauber (Chris Trotter), Anna Glauber (Josh Pickett), Mary Brooks, Laura (Brian) Gunter, Kim Barry, Mallory (Vivek) Kuppusamy, Nancy Barry, Ali Barry, Kate Barry, and Eileen Barry.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents Jim & Marjorie Barry, daughter Catherine Glauber, stepmother Bea Barry, sister-in-law Marianne Kohl, and her husband of 60 years, Mike.

The family wants to recognize a deep appreciation for Ruby Captain and Francisco Chavis.  These two angels on earth are invaluable members of our family and Mary Lou loved them deeply.  We also extend heartfelt thanks to "Team Mimi"… the village of loved ones and healthcare professionals, too numerous to name, who helped her spend the last few years in the comfort of her own home, surrounded by family.  A special thank you to May, Hannah, Dr. Phan, Phoebe, Chris, Lucette and Sabrina for their compassionate care.   Above all, Ruby receives our profound gratitude.  Mary Lou's life was better because of you.

And last, but certainly not least, to Mary Lou's dear friends who were a part of her long and well-lived life… She treasured you and will rejoice when you join her in heaven… but don't rush!   "May the Lord bless you and keep you. May He show His face to you and have mercy.  May He turn His countenance to you and give you peace."

Mary Lou gave of her time, talent and treasure through selfless service, abundant generosity, and intentional hospitality that truly made a difference in the lives of those around her.  She believed in taking care of those unable to care for themselves, and had a huge heart for children. She would appreciate any gift made in her memory to your favorite local charity if you are so moved.

Friends are invited to visit with the family beginning at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8 at Klein Funeral Home – Champions, prior to the funeral at 2 p.m. in the chapel.  A reception will follow the service from 4-5 p.m. at Perry's – Champions.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held in Joplin, Missouri on May 8, 2026 from 2 pm – 5 pm at Finn's.  The final committal will take place at Park Cemetery, Carthage, Missouri in a private family graveside service.
