Mary Ann Fanning, 83 years, passed away peacefully into the loving arms of our Lord Jesus Christ with her family by her side on December 27, 2021.
She was born on January 30, 1938, the only child of Julia and Hugh Campbell. She grew up in the Bronx, New York, and attended The Academy of Mount St. Ursula harboring dreams of entering the convent.
On September 12, 1953, Bob Fanning, a young Navy man stationed aboard the U.S.S. Mattabesset off the coast of Barcelona, sat down and penned a letter which would change her life forever (and eliminate any thoughts of the convent). It was the beginning of a love affair that would last fifty years and produce seven children, fourteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
Mary Ann was a stay-at-home mom while her children were in school in New York. In 1977, the family moved to Houston, Texas and she enjoyed working at Bank One and Cypress Assistance Ministries. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile and her dedication to family and church.
She is preceded in death by her best friend and cherished husband of 50 years, Bobby and son Christopher. She leaves behind daughters Donna Ann, Colleen, Marianne, and Patricia and sons Robert Jr. and Richard.
Mass of Christian Burial at St. Dominic's Chapel located at 2401 Holcomb Blvd, Houston, TX 77021. Interment will follow at Klein Memorial Park on Hwy 249.
Although the family is devastated by our loss, we know that our Mom is gloriously reunited with our Dad and basking at the right hand of the Father. The family would like to thank the nursing staff at St Dominic Village for all the kindness and care they showed Mary Ann through her many years of residency.
Memorials can be sent to St Dominic's Village, 2401 Holcombe, Houston. 77021 or Christian Community Service Center, P.O. Box 27924. Houston 77227-7924.
