Mary Hindman Duhon, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister passed away on June 2, 2026, following a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. Born on April 18, 1956, Mary dedicated her life wholeheartedly to her family and to the care, education, and guidance of young children.

A lifelong educator, Mary graduated from Crowley High School in 1974, earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1978 and her masters degree in early childhood education from the University of New Orleans in 1984. She and her husband of 48 years, Michael "Mike" Duhon of Crowley, began their journey together in New Orleans, where Mary served as director of the First United Methodist Church Child Care Center on Canal Street. In 1989, the couple relocated to Cypress, Texas, where she continued her mission of teaching and mentoring. Mary taught kindergarten at Hamilton Elementary School for over 20  years and also at Hemmenway Elementary School. In addition, she inspired future educators by teaching education courses at Lone Star College, and faithfully served her church, St. Mary's Episcopal Church  through teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.

Known for her infectious smile and generous heart, "Mrs. Duhon" left a lasting impact on every student, parent, and colleague she met. Her extraordinary gift for nurturing children lives on through her own family. Her children and grandchildren carry forward that same spirit of compassion and care, a lasting reflection of the love she poured into them throughout her life. Outside of the classroom, nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her six grandchildren, who affectionately called her "Mae Mae," a name spoken with warmth, joy, and deep love.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Joellen Hindman.   She  is survived by her husband, Michael "Mike" Duhon; her three children, Matthew Duhon (Megan) of Tomball, Texas, Austin Duhon (Ashley) of Tomball, Texas, and Erin Pledger (Trey) of Tomball, Texas; and her six beloved grandchildren, Rudder Duhon, Brady Duhon, Cannon Duhon, Ella Duhon, Landry Pledger, and Logan Pledger.

She is also survived by her siblings, Joel Hindman (Nancy) of Knoxville, Tennessee, Mitchell Hindman (Janet) of Hamilton, Virginia, and Elizabeth Hebert (Darryl) of Carencro, Louisiana, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to her caregivers, Velma Dunn Cooper and Village Green Cypress Memory Care, for their compassionate care and for surrounding Mary with dignity, comfort, and love in her final years. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to a local Alzheimer's charity or organization of the donor's choice.
