Mary Kay David Beardmore Strack left this world peacefully and passed into eternal life on Monday, October 30, 2023, at 82, just six days shy of her 83rd birthday. Mary Kay graduated on this day to meet her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents Ernest Roland David and Mary Faris David, her husband of 32 years, Robert (Bob) Nettles Beardmore, son Terrance (Toby) O'Neal Beardmore, and husband of 15 years, Bernard Richard Strack.
Mary Kay was born on November 5, 1940, in Columbia, South Carolina. It was there in 1959 that she met and then married her husband of 32 years, Bob Beardmore. Bob was waiting for an elevator at the South Carolina State Highway Department, where they both worked at the time, and when the doors opened, their eyes met, and from our Dad's account, "It was love at first sight!"
Mary Kay and Bob settled in the Isle of Palms in South Carolina, and there began their family, bringing Cynthia (Cindy) Anne Beardmore, Robert (Rob) Ashley Carlton Beardmore, and David (Brian) Beardmore into the world. In July of 1969, Mary Kay and Bob moved to Spring, Texas, with their three children, and the family continued to grow with the addition of Patrick Scott Beardmore and Terrance (Toby) O'Neal Beardmore.
Mary Kay worked from 1971 to 1996 for the US Postal Service at the Spring and Tomball branches and retired as a Rural Letter Carrier and Supervisor at the Tomball US Post Office.
A few years after Mary Kay was widowed by Bob, she and Bernard, who was also widowed, rekindled a friendship and fell in love. Mary Kay had known Bernard from her years at the Spring Post Office where he served as Postmaster. She had a great respect for him and his servant leadership approach to running the branch. Mary Kay admired Bernard's gentle spirit, his integrity, and passion for God and life. They were married for 15 years.
Mary Kay loved spending time at the beach with her family, crabbing and looking for sea shells. She had a passion for interior design, reading and a love of history. One of her favorite pastimes was to shop for antique furniture and collectibles. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She was known for never following a recipe exactly, always altering it to make it better!
Mary Kay is survived by her daughter, Cindy, and son-in-law, Mark Eenink; her sons, Rob Beardmore and daughter-in-law, Julie Beardmore, Brian Beardmore, and daughter-in-law, Michelle Beardmore, and son, Patrick Beardmore. Her grandchildren knew Mary Kay as "Baba." Baba loves her eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren: Taylor and her husband, Blake Pierce; Colton Beardmore and his wife, Grace, with their daughter, Blaire; Connor Beardmore and his wife, Kayla, with their daughters, Blake and Laura; Robbie Beardmore, John Eenink, Joshua Beardmore, Cameron Beardmore, and Ashley Beardmore; her sister Tarlie and her brother-in-law, Frank Bryan and their families; and her brother Roland and her sister-in-law, Mary David and their families.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Mary Kay on Monday, November 6: Visitation with family and friends starts at 9am. The service will begin at 10am, at Klein Funeral Home - Cy Fair – Northwest, 9719 Wortham Blvd., Houston, Texas 77065.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Mary Kay's honor to the Texas Heart Institute .
