Mary Elizabeth Corboy, 88, passed away February 6th, 2024 in Tomball, Texas. She was born August 24th, 1935, in St. Paul, Minnesota to the late Albert T. Corboy and Catherine A. Tierney Corboy. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her loving sister Catherine and her big brother James.

After leaving Minnesota, the family lived in Indiana. They then moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where they lived for many years. Mary graduated from Saint Mary's High School (now Mercy High School) in Omaha. Later in life she returned to school and earned a master's degree at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. She attended the beautiful St. Aloysius Catholic Church on the campus of Gonzaga University until her recent move to Texas.

Mary served God as a Sister of Mercy for thirty-seven years, working in several Mercy Hospitals. She also worked as a medical technician with the Inland Valley Blood Bank before retiring in the Spokane area.

Mary loved God, her family and her friends. She enjoyed traveling with her sister Catherine to many places over the years. Many fond memories are of vacations in Pagosa Springs, Colorado with other family members.

Amongst the family, she was known for baking a healthful dense, multigrain bread long before it became fashionable. Occasionally she would mail the bread as holiday gifts. By the time it arrived with delayed mail, it was sometimes almost inedible, but no one ever told Mary for fear she would stop baking!

Mary was an accomplished knitter. She once made a quite complex sweater for her sister Catherine. When Catherine subsequently lost weight, she asked if Mary would unravel and remake the sweater. This request was met with a distinct lack of enthusiasm, and the sweater remained intact.

She enjoyed visiting the casinos, had a fondness for the color purple, and quite a sense of humor. She was generous, always donating any of her casino earnings to the church. Above all, she was consistently kind to everyone.

Mary is survived by three generations of nieces and nephews, totaling sixteen. She will be remembered fondly.

Funeral services will be held at 4 pm March 9, 2024, in the Mary Chapel of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 19222 Tomball Parkway, Houston, Texas 77070
