Celebrating a Life of Greatness
Mary Margaret Bird Champagne of Earle, Arkansas, passed away on January 23, 2024, at the age of 91. She was born on June 14th, 1932, to Marvin and Marguerite Bird. Mary Margaret married her love, Harold Charles Champagne, when he left the army, and they shared a fantastic 67 years together.
She and Harold were among the founders of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Cypress in 1985. Mary Margaret had a passion for sports, traveling, entertaining, and, most importantly, for raising three boys into admirable men. Each of her sons affectionately referred to her as their "Hero." When it came to friends, she always had a warm "Hello" for everyone, and her smile could light up the room.
Mary Margaret is survived by her sons Stanley M. Champagne of Nederland and Alan Champagne of Houston, grandchildren Kevin, Lori, and Jenelle, step-grandchildren Dan and Greg Martino, and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her three daughters-in-law, Debbie Champagne, Helen Champagne, and Marie Champagne.
She is preceded in death by her husband Harold Champagne, son Steve Champagne, and sister Judy McCain.
