Marvin was a proud Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather.
His career spanned more than 40 years with the Union Pacific Railroad in North Platte and Omaha, Nebraska, where he made numerous friendships along the way.
He was a Telegrapher (Morse code sending telegrams) in the Early 50's, "That was the top technology of the time", before telephones were widely available.
He became a Train Dispatcher, then promoted to Chief Dispatcher over all the dispatchers on the west end, from Omaha to Cheyenne. In the 90's Union Pacific started computerizing the dispatching, he learned computers and monitored the trains on the computer train boards, that filled the entire wall of the office. After helping complete the conversion to the computerized train board, he retired in late 1990.
He was an avid reader, loved Westerns, his favorites. He also enjoyed Hunting, Fishing, Boating, Golfing, and was an enthusiastic Nebraska Football Fan, every fall Saturday, game day red was required dress code.
His Special interest were, Mantel Clocks, Roseville Pottery and one "talking" Double Yellow headed Amazon parrot, that drove him crazy from time to time.
Last year we got a new dog, a Golden Doodle named, "Oliver" he was a companion that watched TV, and watched over the neighborhood through Marve's bedroom window, laying atop his bed. Oliver would growl when he wanted Marve to pet him. They were quite close; Oliver seems lost now.
This last year has been special, we moved to a house that had a small manmade lake/pond behind us. He really enjoyed watching the birds come and go, ducks, geese, herons, blue jays, mockingbirds, and one cautious rabbit, that lived outside our iron fence going to and fro, as fast as possible.
We all will miss him very much, rest in peace, our father and friend.
