Marvin August Beckendorf, son of August Alphons Beckendorf and Selma Hulda Kobs Beckendorf was born October 14, 1923 in Addicks, Texas. Marvin was baptized by his grandfather, Rev. Fritz Beckendorf on December 23, 1923 in the Addicks Methodist Church.  Marvin was confirmed by Rev. W.A. Menking on April 17, 1938 and joined the church at the same time.

Marvin married Vada Lyons on September 26, 1947 in the Addicks Methodist Church by Rev. W.A. Menking. Marvin and Vada joined Rose Hill Methodist Church on September 28, 1947 by transfer from Addicks Methodist Church.  Rev. W.A. Craven was minister and waited until Oct. 1947 to take the entire Beckendorf family in as members of the church.

Son Donald Wayne Beckendorf was born to Marvin and Vada on June 27, 1949.

Marvin was active in church work. He worked in the Epworth League and was Sunday School Superintendent for a number of years at Addicks Methodist Church and Sunday School Teacher at Rose Hill Methodist Church for a number of years, and served on the Official Board and Board of Trustees at Rose Hill, and was a member of the Texas German Society.

Marvin was a charter member of the Rose Hill Volunteer Fire Department and served as captain. He was secretary for 13 years.  He and Vada and Donald were in charge of the serving for the annual Bar-B-Que for years.

Marvin worked in the Farm Bureau and served as Vice President and member of the Harris County Board of Directors and also served on the State Board.

Marvin also served as Vice President of the Rose Hill Cemetery Association for 69+ years. He was also a member of the Tomball Masonic Lodge for 65 years.

Marvin loved the outdoors. He always enjoyed planting hay grazer in the spring for grazing and making hay.  In the fall he planted oats and Rye Grass for grazing.  He enjoyed the Dairy and later Range Cows.  Every night he would look to see where the moon was.

He enjoyed Donald, DeAnn and the grandchildren and loved going on vacations and doing everything with them. He enjoyed all his friends and relatives, the meals together, the 42 and 88 games and just visiting.

Marvin is preceded in death by his parents August and Selma Beckendorf; brothers, Elmer and Harvey Beckendorf; and his son, Donald Wayne Beckendorf.

Marvin is survived by his wife of 70 years and 5 months, Vada Beckendorf; daughter-in-law, DeAnn Beckendorf; grandchildren, Jason Beckendorf and wife Becky, Dana Farrell and husband Scott, Jeannie Parker and husband Justin, Daniel Beckendorf and fiancé Nicole; great-grandchildren, Bailee Beckendorf, Paetyn Beckendorf, Tynlee Beckendorf, Samuel Farrell and Liam Parker; brother, Arlie Beckendorf and wife Nancy; sister-in-law, Dorothy Beckendorf.

A time of visitation will be held from 5 to 8 pm on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at the Klein Funeral Home in Tomball. The funeral service will be held at 10 am Thursday, February 22, 2018 at the Rose Hill United Methodist Church.  Burial will follow at the Seidel Rose Hill Cemetery.
