Obituary

Our mother, Martina Ruiz Guerra peacefully entered the loving hands of Our Lord on March 6, 2023 at the age of 73. She was born in El Álamo, Nuevo León, México to Virginia Dávila Ruiz and Ruben Ruiz on February 5, 1950. In 1963, she moved to Houston, TX with her family and in 1974, she married the love of her life, Arcadio Rolando Guerra.

At the young age of 13, she received her diploma from beauty school in Sabinas Hidalgo, Nuevo León, México. She prided herself in using her talent when coming to the United States of America. Due to this talent, she was awarded a scholarship for her outstanding gift in hair styling. She also worked as a dental assistant and thrived in the company before staying home to raise her children. When asked what her occupation was she would reply, "Domestic Engineer." She was an exceptional mother, grandmother, and wife.

Martina R. Guerra dedicated her life to her family. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren. They were the light of her life. She attended everything from dance recitals, sports games, award ceremonies to graduations. She loved helping others and put others before herself. Her words of wisdom, courage, and optimism helped many of us get through tough times. She never allowed anyone or anything to break her spirit and always viewed life from a positive perspective. She was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her.

Martina Guerra was predeceased by her loving husband, Arcadio Rolando Guerra and is survived by her four children, Elcida Guerra Rodriguez married to Edgar A. Rodríguez, Ruby Guerra Santillan married to Mario Santillan, Rolando Guerra, and Rocio Guerra Gusart married to Miguel Gusart, her grandchildren, Alexis Yasmyn Rodríguez, Edgar A. Rodríguez Jr, Alessandra Virginia Santillan, Mario Raul Santillan, Adrian Antonio Gusart (RIP), Luzía Marisol Gusart, Chunk and Bear (RIP), her granddogs, and Milo, her grandcat.

She will always be remembered as a hardworking, witty, strong-willed, and fearless woman who sacrificed everything to make her family feel loved, safe, and happy. We will miss her dearly and hold beautiful memories of her in our hearts.
