Martin Steve Stepanski, age 80, of Houston, TX, died on July 13, 2021. He was born on
June 9, 1941 in Anderson, TX to Steve Ike and Bessie (Szymczak) Stepanski, he was the
youngest of eleven children. He is preceded in death by brothers and sisters: Marion,
Gertrude Pavloski, Stash, Floyd, Marvin, and Vernie Mueller; and wives Lena Mae (Sarao)
Stepanski (2000) and Ann (Bradley) Stepanski (1995).
As a young boy the family moved to Houston, living in the Houston Heights area. He
attended school at Christ the King Catholic Church where he played football. He met
his first wife, and mother of his children, Lena Mae, and was married at Christ the King in
April 1959. Three sons were welcomed into the world: Steve Anthony, James Earl and
Richard Martin.
Martin, or Junior as many in the family called him, loved hunting and fishing. He enjoyed
the many Stepanski family get-togethers where there was always good BBQ, joking
around, and playing poker or dominos.
He participated in the Volunteers In Public Schools (VIPS) at Eugene Field Elementary
where his sons attended. He was also a volunteer Little League coach for his sons, and
continued doing so after the family moved to Hockley, TX in 1972. There he also
became a recognizable Little League and summer baseball coach and umpire; especially
behind the plate, with his demonstrative third strike calls in a booming voice.
He worked as a rotary pressman in Houston at Standard Register (previously known as
Rein Co.) Later he worked in Brenham, Tx as a pressman before retiring.
After his divorce, he met and fell in love with Ann Bradley, who he soon married. This
started a second life for him. Jane was a wonderful addition to his life and she was
welcomed warmly into the family. Jane was taken away far too soon, when she passed
after a recurrence of cancer.
Martin is survived by his sons Steve, James and husband Miguel Gonzalez, Richard,
daughter-in-law Laurie Paszotta Stepanski, grandsons Richard M. Stepanski II and Zachary
T. Stepanski; brother Phillip, and sister Helen Duke, nephews and nieces.
