Martha Ann (Willard) Brooks

1939-2017

Martha Brooks, 77, of Houston passed away on March 9, 2017. She was born on November 13, 1939 in Dallas, Texas and spent her childhood in Dallas. Upon graduation from South Oak Cliff High School in 1958, she was married to James Paul Brooks on June 13, 1958 at Trinity Heights Church of Christ where they met. Jim and Martha moved to Southwest Houston in 1961 and made it their home. Their first home was located in Westbury on Hillcroft Drive. Martha gave birth to two loving children, Lori and Eric, and stayed home with them until the youngest went to school. Then she and her dear friend Eloise Damon started their own interior design business, Now & The Interiors. As a professional interior designer for over 45 years, Martha loved to add beauty to lives of others, and she left her mark in the homes of many of her friends.

In 1972 Martha and Jim moved to the FM1960 area in Northwest Houston where Martha lived a full and happy life. Martha was a member of Bammel Road Church of Christ for over 40 years where she taught children's Sunday school and was involved in many women's activities. She always enjoyed cooking food for others and hosting numerous wedding and baby showers. Martha loved to travel the globe, play bridge, entertain her friends and family, and volunteer for worthy causes such as The Blue Birds Circle for Texas Children's Hospital and IMPACT Houston inner city church. She also helped her husband establish the Brooks Scholarship Fund for underprivileged College Students.

Martha leaves behind her husband of 58 years, Jim Brooks; a daughter Lori Kretz and husband Blake of Arlington, TX; a son Eric Brooks and wife Cindy of Fort Worth, TX; four grandchildren, Nicole Kretz, Michael Kretz, Jack Brooks and Liam Brooks; sister Jan Netherland and husband Joe of The Woodlands, TX; brother Danny Willard of Addison, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
