In Loving Memory of Poppy Williams

Poppy Williams was born on June 7, 1945, in Berea, Ohio, to Alfred R. and Carolyn (Culver) Morton. She grew up in Berea alongside her siblings, Richard Morton and Connie Morton, developing an early love for horses and horseback riding that became a lifelong passion. Poppy attended The Ohio State University, where she met her husband of more than 57 years, Steve Williams. A graduate with a degree in education, she was also a member of the Alpha Phi sorority and remained a devoted Buckeyes fan throughout her life.

Poppy dedicated 43 years to education, spending 35 of those years with Klein Independent School District. She began her teaching career in elementary schools before focusing on sixth-grade Social Studies at Kleb Intermediate School, where her impact on students and colleagues was profound. Beyond the classroom, Poppy was an avid reader and a lover of horses, traveling the world with Steve and her family to destinations such as Australia, Japan, Europe, and Israel. She made friends everywhere she went and cherished activities like playing bridge with friends, taking long walks with her dogs, playing golf, and swing dancing with Steve. Her family fondly remembers her unwavering support at hundreds of soccer games and practices.

Poppy is survived by her loving husband, Stephen E. Williams; her son Christopher and his wife Amy; and her grandchildren Matthew and Allison Williams, alongside Jacob and Caleb Hutchison. She was pre-deceased by her parents and her son, Lt. Patrick S. Williams, USN. Her legacy lives on in the love and memories shared by her family and friends.

A "Celebration of Poppy" service will take place on Friday, August 8, 2025, at Klein Funeral Home, located at 16131 Champion Forest Drive, Spring, TX, at 2:00 PM. Please wear dressy casual attire.

To honor Poppy's memory, donations may be made to Camp Hope or the Alzheimer's Association .
