Marlene "Memo" Rita Mooney Theriot, age 74, born 9-19-1948 in Franklin, Louisiana passed away on 12-23-2022. She graduated from the University of Southwestern Louisiana receiving B.S. and M.S. degrees in 1969 and 1972. She worked in the field of social services in Louisiana and Texas for over 30 years. Marlene is survived and will be dearly missed by her spouse of 49 years and 11 months, John Ronald Theriot; son Alex Theriot and wife Emily Nelson Theriot; daughter Andrea Theriot Ross and husband Scott Ross; and grandchildren Gwyneth "Gwyn" Ross, Meredith Ross, Joseph Theriot, and Katherine Theriot.

Marlene is preceded in death by her parents Marsene Hodge Mooney and Lurdie Meyers, her stepmother Ruth Ann Benoit Avant Mooney, and her sister Barbara Avant Desselle. She is survived by her sister Roberta Mooney Sellers.

Marlene was the definition of perseverance for her family having survived many cancer diagnoses and treatments starting in 1991. Memo was a dedicated mother and grandmother and loved spending time with her grandchildren more than anything. She also loved animals, playing scrabble according to her rules, and was an amazing cook of many dishes including seafood gumbo every New Year's Day and chili every Halloween.
