Obituary

Marlene Galloway, a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife, and friend. She was born, at home, on October 18, 1932 in Ringling Oklahoma. She joined her savior in heaven on July 20, 2020 in Tomball Texas. Her parents were Olvin and Bernice Auld. They lived many places across Oklahoma and Texas as her father Olvin was a Toolpusher for Mobile Oil Company. In spite of moving 32 times times before her freshman year in high school, she was an accomplished student. She graduated as valedictorian of Monahans High School.

Marlene and her family moved in next door to a lovely family. These were the grandparents of her soon to be husband, George Galloway. George's grandmother told Marlene that she should consider writing to George as he was serving in the Korean war. They became pen pals even before they met in person. They were married in December of 1954. They were blessed with three wonderful children: Doyle, Angela, and Bryan. George passed into the arms of the Lord in November of 1994.

Marlene went on to graduate from college as well as earn her Masters degree in English Literature. She became a certified Reading Specialist and taught for many years in Odessa and Mineral Wells Texas. She taught elementary and middle school grades, as well a Junior College. She loved helping others and made friends in her little town of Magnolia. She was able to teach ESL and many of her new friends learned to speak, read, and write in English.

Marlene was a lady of many talents, in addition to teaching she was also an accomplished pianist and she loved to play and sing her beloved old hymns. Marlene was a hard-working woman. She helped her husband as they built a beautiful home from ground up. She also loved to garden. She grew some delicious fruits and vegetables. Marlene loved animals and always had pets in her home throughout her lifetime.

Marlene is survived by her 3 children Doyle, Angela, and Bryan, her grandchildren: Joey, Matt, Erica, Holly, Mickey, and Mia. She is also survived by 8 great grandchildren.
