Marla Kay Morse

1944 – 2023

Marla Kay Morse, known as Kay to her loved ones, passed away on September 29, 2023, at the age of 79 in Tomball, Texas.  She was born on July 19, 1944, in Lubbock Texas.  Kay was a caring, loving, and generous woman with a heart of gold.  She was known for her faithfulness and positive outlook on life.

Kay was a woman of unwavering faith and a pillar of strength for her family.  Her caring nature and loving spirit touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.  She was always ready to lend a helping hand and offer words of comfort.  Kay's devotion to her family was unparalleled, and she treasured every moment she spent with them.

Kay found great joy in the art of quilting, crocheting, gardening, and reading.  She nurtured her spirit through her ministry that she brought to life in January 2008, Dancing Needles, a ministry of crocheting shawls and blankets which were prayed over and personally delivered to local nursing homes.  She selflessly served as a Stephen's Minister, offering comfort and support for those in need.  She helped to develop New Normal Luncheon, to help those who had recently experienced a loss which was also under the Stephen's Ministry.

Kay was preceded in death by her cherished husband of 47 years, Frank Morse, her father Truman Chapman, her mother Mary Louise Chapman, and her dear brother Mickey Chapman, and several aunts and uncles who held a special place in her heart.  Especially, her grandfather whom she was so proud of his Native American heritage.  She often shared stories with her children and grandchildren of how much she loved her grandfather who was 100% Choctaw Indian.  She also passed down her grandfather's tradition of making sure a Hershey bar was always available for her grandchildren.

Kay leaves behind cherished memories and a legacy of love.  She is survived by her sons, Joseph Morse (Chlee Morse), John Morse (Tawnya Koski-Morse); her daughter Cynthia Harvard (Stephen Harvard Jr); and her grandchildren, Jacob Harvard (Corissa Harvard), Wyatt Koski, Shelby Koski, Amber Morse, Olivia Harvard, Caton Morse and Cody Morse.  The loss of Kay leaves an indescribable void in the lives of her family, who will forever treasure the memories they shared.

Education played an important role in Kay's life.  She attended Monterey High School and furthered her studies at Texas Tech University, equipping herself with knowledge and a thirst for lifelong learning.  In her later years, she regularly attended Bible studies and sometimes even lead them.

Kay's unwavering faith was a cornerstone of her life.  For over four decades, she found solace and a sense of belonging at Lakewood Methodist Church.  She was an active member of Lakewood Methodist Church since 1980.  She found joy in working within several ministries in the church, particularly Dancing Needles and being a Stephen's Minister.  This allowed her to combine her passion for creativity and her deep-rooted spirituality.  She also dedicated her time to cutting coupons for the soldiers overseas, exemplifying her selflessness and compassion.    Her servant work brought her immense happiness.

The Morse family has chosen Klein Funeral Home in Tomball, TX.  There will be a visitation at the Tomball Klein Funeral Home location (1400 W. Main, Tomball, TX 77375) on Monday, October 9, 2023, from 5pm-8pm.  Services will be held at Lakewood Methodist Church (11330 Louetta Rd, Houston, TX 77070), on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at 10am with a graveside service to follow at Klein Memorial Park - SH 249 (32539 SH 249, Pinehurst, TX 77362).

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Dancing Needles at Lakewood Methodist Church, Kay's ministry was very close to her heart.

Kay Morse's departure has left a void in the lives of her family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing her.  Her caring nature, loving spirit, and unwavering faith will forever be cherished and serve as a guiding light for us all.  May her legacy continue to inspire and uplift all those who were fortunate enough to know her.
