Mark Edmund Brinkman beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, sponsor, friend and servant of the Lord …

Mark is survived by his wife, Teresa Anne of Tomball, their son Matthew Edwin and wife Rebecca Gallagher Brinkman of Dallas, and Marie Kathleen Brinkman Loew and husband Sean Loew of Iowa.

Mark's brother Dan and wife Christy, and their children Adam and wife Katie and grandniece Amelia of League City, Elizabeth and Zachary of Friendswood; his brother Jack and wife Rosina, and their children David, Sarah and Eileen of San Antonio; and his brother Tim and wife Valerie, and their children Julie, Ryan, Eric and Andrew of McKinney.

Mark died at his home on July 23, 2016 due to rejection of the double lung transplant he received in June 2010.

Mark was born in Hamilton, Ohio on April 21, 1960, the oldest of four boys of Maurice Edmund Brinkman and Brigid Regan Brinkman . He believed he could claimed Texas as his birthright by having a mother born in Austin, Texas and by being born on the day when the San Jacinto Battle ensured Texas Independence back in April of 1836.

Mark and Teresa met at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Clear Lake/Houston, Texas during Young Adult group functions. Many of the Young Adults became great friends to them. Mark and Teresa were married at St. Bernadette in 1989 and moved to Spring, Texas where they raised their family. In 2004, they moved out to Rosehill, Texas to be closer St. Anne Catholic Church of Tomball.

Mark was very active in the faith community of St. Anne Catholic Church of Tomball. He was the chairman of the St. Anne School Board's Finance Committee for three years. He served as Eucharistic Minister beginning in 1996 and later as Sacristan. He was on the Liturgy Committee representing the Altar Servers. Mark established the St. Anne Stewardship Council and led it for three years. Mark was a member of the Knights of Columbus beginning in 2005. Mark co-chaired the Ground Committee during the annual Church Bazaar and Festival in October for 12 years. Mark assisted Fr. Tommy Hopper of St. Anne Catholic Community in establishing the Parish Finance Council followed by the Parish Council.

Mark developed Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis of the Lungs in 2008. His mother had died in 2004 of IPF without the benefit of a lung transplant. Contracting H1N1 Influenza in January 2010 triggered the disease, and by spring break of that year, he was on oxygen 24/7 and was on an accelerated decline.

Thanks to the aid and guidance of his pulmonologist Dr. Philip L. Pirtle of Tomball, as well as his consultation with Dr. Adaani Frost, Mark was quickly evaluated for lung transplantation. In nine days, Mark was placed on the transplant list and in three days he received the call. On June 8 th, 2010, it took 4.5 hours with no transfusions to complete the double lung transplant surgery. We thank Drs. Harish Seethamraju and Thomas Kaleeakal for their support throughout Mark's transplant and care journey, and through the end of his life.

God was clearly not finished with Mark's duties. This allowed Mark to live an additional six years and witness many major events in the lives of his family and friends, including the marriage vows and celebrations for daughter Marie Kathleen Brinkman to Sean Mitchell Loew and for son Matthew Edwin to Rebecca Marie Gallagher.

Mark's 38-year career in computing systems development began in high school when he developed a patient reminder system for an Alvin optometrist. His true career began at Lockheed Missiles & Space in Austin, Texas in 1984 after graduating from Southwest Texas State University in Computer Information Systems. This employment was followed by a few years with Software Performance Inc. in Friendswood, Texas, and finally with Compaq Computer Corporation in Tomball/Houston Texas, which was later bought by Hewlett Packard and then split into Hewlett Packard Enterprise. Mark was Supply Chain Strategist and Development Manager.

Mark enjoyed woodworking and loved to find ways to create jigs to help make furniture and other wooden projects. He loved to fix and repair things – from household items to tools – mechanical, electrical, or plumbing related.

His family extends their most heartfelt appreciation to all those who cared for him during the end of his time with us. In particular, we thank Dr. Elizabeth Wanner, dear friend and wonderful physician, who provided such excellent care with the assistance of Heart 2 Heart Hospice Care. We would like to thank Rev. Eamonn Shelley and Rev. Tommy Hopper for providing spiritual guidance to Mark during his last year.

Several men from St. Anne Catholic Community helped Teresa with the "chores" when Mark became unable to perform them. These dear friends were clearly the hands and heart of Christ to him: Bill Crawford, Christopher Crawford, Ray Stawaisz, Ryan Stawaisz, Ross Stawaisz, Karl Leger, Kevin Leger, Ray Rosato, Grant Landry, and Randy McCorkle.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 28, 2016 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of St. Anne Catholic Church in Tomball, 1111 South Cherry Street, Tomball, Texas 77375. The Vigil for the Deceased Liturgy with Deacon Gary Janota, Celebrant, will start immediately at 7:00 p.m., followed by a Rosary led by Deacon Mark Baker.

The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Friday, July 29, 2016 at St. Anne Catholic Church, 1111 South Cherry Main Street in Tomball at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Richard Hinkley, Celebrant, and Concelebrants Fr. Tommy Hopper pastor, Fr. Fred Valone prior pastor, and Fr. Hank Lanik college friend . The Rite of Committal will follow at Klein Memorial Park, 9714 FM 2920, Tomball, Texas 77375.

Pallbearers will be his brothers, son, son-in-law, and friends like sons: Daniel Brinkman, John "Jack" Brinkman, Timothy Brinkman, Matthew Brinkman, Sean Loew, Joseph Mastrangelo and Clemente Rodriguez.
