Obituary

Our beloved Marina A. Martinez, aka Nana Rina, aka Road Runner, was born on August 3, 1959, in Salinas, California, to Sally O. Martinez and Manus Avasakadi.

Marina was a caring and compassionate mother, nana, wife, sister, auntie, niece, cousin, friend, and Harley rider.

Marina was a force of strength, and laughter in our family.

Marina was a childhood survivor of a defective heart valve that was corrected at the age of 3 in San Francisco, so she would always say "they saved my heart in San Francisco".  Marina continued on a journey across country to live in Florida, and settled in Houston, rode her Harley Lee-Lee to Sturgis twice, was a very talented artist, enjoyed all the different festivals and fairs, was a member of Harley's Angels Breast Cancer Research, and a valued and proud employee of Big H and Houston Auto Auction.

Marina was preceded in death by her mother, Sally O. Martinez; father, Joe Martinez; and brother, Thomas Martinez.

Marina leaves behind her loving wife, Connie Attaway; son, Rico Salinas; cherished grandsons, Alexander and Nico Salinas; her nieces, Eva Maestre, Samantha Martinez, Matt Martinez whom she also helped raise and loved as her own; sisters, Marta Valverde (Mario), Susie Mauricio (Sonny), Marion Fisher (Robert), Madeline Silva, and Tara Willis; brother, Joseph Martinez (Telina); and many loving and adoring nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.

Her life accomplishments show through the love she gave so willingly to all those who held her dear.

Isaiah 40:31: "But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength.  They shall mount up with wings like eagles.  They shall run and not be weary and they shall walk and not faint."

RoadRunner is riding the highway to heaven… we love you!
