It's with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Marilyn Jean (LaHood) Konicki, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Marilyn passed away peacefully on March 13, 2025, at the age of 89, while residing in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Marilyn was born on June 12, 1935, in Butte, MT, to Steven and Montana LaHood. From an early age, she demonstrated a remarkable spirit of kindness, compassion, and toughness, shaped by her upbringing on Butte's East Side. Marilyn attended Butte Central Catholic High School before studying nursing at Carroll College in Helena, MT.

Marilyn met the love of her life, Joseph John Konicki, while working in Los Angeles, CA. They married on January 7, 1961. Together, they built a home filled with love, laughter, and plenty of competition. As a mother, Marilyn was firm yet nurturing and supportive, encouraging her children to follow their dreams and reach their full potential.

Marilyn's zest for life was evident in her numerous hobbies and interests. She loved painting; one of her last works of art was displayed in the Haan Mansion Museum of Indiana Art. She also enjoyed playing board games and cards. In fact, at the time of her passing, Marilyn was the reigning "World Champion" of Rummikub®. She enjoyed sports of all kinds, especially the Houston Rockets, Purdue Boilermakers, and Twin Lakes High School (IN) baseball.

Marilyn is survived by her "Bestest Friend of all Time," Katy West of Butte, MT. Children Cathy Konicki, Jeanne Boyd (Michael Bobinski), and Tom (Mary) Konicki. Daughters-in-law Judith Konicki and DeLin (Ben) Melancon. Grandchildren Austin (Courtney) Konicki, Taylor Konicki, Alexis (Ryan) Wimble, Kyle Konicki, Kaitlyn Konicki, and Kathleen Konicki. Great-grandson Hudson Konicki. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tana and Steve LaHood; her brothers, Steve and Bill LaHood; her husband, Joe Konicki; and her sons, Joe and Mike Konicki.

To honor Marilyn's life, the following celebrations will take place on Wednesday, March 26, 2025: a 10:00 AM viewing followed by a 10:45 AM funeral service, both at the Klein (TX) Funeral Home-Champions, 16131 Champions Forest Drive, 77379. 1:00 PM burial at the Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, 77038. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation in Memory of Marilyn Konicki.
