Marilyn (Jean) Armstrong Pogue passed peacefully into her home in Heaven on October 15, 2022 at the age of 93.  Jean was born on October 30, 1928 in White County, Illinois to Corrie and Leda Armstrong. She spent a happy childhood on the farm with five brothers and three sisters.

After graduating from Crossville High School, Jean married Larry Pogue of Crossville, Illinois in February 1949.  The couple moved to Evansville, Indiana where Larry received a degree in Accounting.  While in Indiana, their first three children were born.  Larry's work with Sun Oil Co. took them first to New Jersey, where two more children were born, and finally to Texas where they settled and raised their family.

Jean spent many years as a busy mother, wife, and homemaker with five children to raise.  Somehow, she even had time to sew matching Sunday outfits and vacation clothes for all five children, grow a flower garden, and sing in the church choir.

Eventually Jean became a secretary for several companies in Beaumont and Houston.  After retirement, Jean and Larry moved to Lake Conroe, and later to Toledo Bend Reservoir, where the two of them enjoyed fishing together and watching the birds and wildlife. They also enjoyed many trips to Wyoming to spend time with family and to hunt, ride snowmobiles and enjoy the beauty of the mountains.

After Larry's death in 2007, Jean spent her time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren in Texas and Georgia, until moving to Celeste Care Assisted Living of Horseshoe Bay near her youngest daughter and son-in-law in the fall of 2020.

Her parents, Corrie and Leda Armstrong, husband, Larry Pogue, and all of her siblings and their spouses, precede Jean in death. She leaves behind with happy memories, her children Martha and Kenneth Wilson of Monroe, Georgia, Alice Slaughter of Cumming, Georgia, Janice and Bill Thomas of Cypress, Texas, Patty and Steve Collier of Horseshoe Bay, Texas, and Fred and Lark Pogue of Conroe, Texas. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Celeste Care of Horseshoe Bay and Accent Care Hospice for their loving care of their dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. "You made her final journey restful and comfortable. She knew she was loved by you."

Jean ran a good race, smiling as she crossed the finish line to a sea of old familiar faces, cheering her on.  She will be laid to rest and her life celebrated at a family graveside service on November 12, 2022 at Klein Memorial Park in Tomball, Texas.
