Marie Hoppe Lim, age 64, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2025, in The Woodlands, Texas, surrounded by loved ones.

Marie was born in Saigon, Vietnam, and lived in California and New York as a young adult before eventually settling in Houston, Texas — where she found love, built a home, and raised two daughters. A devoted homemaker and natural caregiver, Marie lived a life centered on compassion, family, and strength.

She never knew a stranger and had a gift for making friends wherever she went. Her warmth and openness made people feel instantly seen and welcomed. She brought communities together through food, laughter, and love.

She is survived by her daughters, Alicia and Danielle Lim and her sister, Michelle Hoppe. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband and soulmate, Peter, in 2013. Marie held family above all else and lovingly considered her closest friends part of that family.

A celebration of her life will be held on July 12 at United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers or other gifts, Marie asked that support be given to her daughters — whether through kind words, comforting presence, or, for those who feel moved, through the GoFundMe link created for the family.
