Our mom, Maria Lidia, was an extraordinary woman. She was born in El Salvador. However, when the country experienced a civil war, she and her husband, our dad, made the bold decision to immigrate to America, where they established a life in Houston, TX. To many of you, she was a dear friend, a confidant, and someone who was always willing to lend a helping hand, offer guidance, or provide support when it was needed most. She lived her life guided by strong Christian principles, leading with kindness, compassion, and faith.

My sister and I were truly blessed to have had the privilege of calling her our mother, our "Mami." Through her love, wisdom, and sometimes her firm hand, she taught us the importance of hard work, humility, respect, and faith. Her lessons shaped who we are today.

Our children were also blessed to know her, to experience her unconditional love, and to call her Mami, a name they lovingly learned from us.

Mami was bold in personality, strong in mind, and fierce in her faith in the Lord and love for her family. She honored the Lord's call to serve others, often expressing her love by preparing meals, caring for others, and ensuring that no one around her went hungry. She found great joy in life's simple pleasures. Mami loved her roses, feeding the birds, and she loved to sing. One of the sweetest memories we will cherish is seeing her filling the bird feeders while singing.

Our mother felt blessed to have had the opportunity to come to America and give us the best life possible. Though our hearts are filled with sorrow, we are grateful for the countless memories we will forever treasure. Her love will continue to guide us, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who had the blessing to know and love her.

Nuestra madre, María Lidia, fue una mujer extraordinaria. Nació en El Salvador. Sin embargo, cuando el país atravesaba una guerra civil, ella y su esposo —nuestro padre— tomaron la valiente decisión de emigrar a Estados Unidos, donde construyeron una vida en Houston, Texas. Para muchos de ustedes, ella fue una querida amiga, una confidente y alguien siempre dispuesta a tender la mano, ofrecer orientación o brindar apoyo cuando más se necesitaba. Vivió guiada por firmes principios Cristianos, actuando siempre con bondad, compasión y fe.

Mi hermana y yo fuimos verdaderamente bendecidas al tener el privilegio de llamarla madre, nuestra "Mami". A través de su amor, su sabiduría y, a veces, su mano firme, nos enseñó la importancia del trabajo duro, la humildad, el respeto y la fe. Sus enseñanzas forjaron quienes somos hoy.

Nuestros hijos también tuvieron la bendición de conocerla, de experimentar su amor incondicional y de llamarla "Mami", un nombre que aprendieron de nosotros con mucho cariño.

Mami tenía una personalidad audaz, una mente fuerte y una fe inquebrantable en el Señor, así como un profundo amor por su familia. Honró el llamado del Señor a servir a los demás, expresando su amor a través de gestos como preparar comidas, cuidar a quienes la rodeaban y asegurarse de que nadie a su alrededor pasara hambre. Encontraba gran alegría en los placeres sencillos de la vida. A Mami le encantaban sus rosas, alimentar a los pájaros y cantar. Uno de los recuerdos más dulces que atesoraremos es verla llenar los comederos de los pájaros mientras cantaba.

Nuestra madre se sentía bendecida por haber tenido la oportunidad de venir a Estados Unidos y darnos la mejor vida posible. Aunque nuestros corazones están llenos de tristeza, sentimos gratitud por los innumerables recuerdos que atesoraremos para siempre. Su amor seguirá guiándonos y su espíritu perdurará en los corazones de todos aquellos que tuvieron la bendición de conocerla y amarla.
