The gates of Heaven opened on April 9, 2025, to welcome Margie Carleen "Granny" Nagy. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and cherished friend, Carleen was a constant source of love, strength, and inspiration to everyone blessed to know her.

The youngest daughter of Carl and May Goedecke, Carleen was born May 18,1936 in Houston. As a young child, her family moved to Spring where she attended Spring ISD schools. In high school, she made her mark as a tough and competitive basketball and volleyball player – a passion she later passed down to her great-granddaughters, encouraging them to love and play the game. On August 22, 1953, she married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, L.J. Nagy. They went on to share sixty wonderful years of marriage. Together, they raised three children - Steven, Carla, and Marla (Willye). In the early years of their marriage, Carleen worked alongside her husband on the family dairy farm, dedicating herself fully to supporting her family and being by L.J.'s side.

Throughout her life, Carleen was deeply involved in her children's lives and faithfully supported them in Vacation Bible School, Sunday School, Cub Scouts, 4-H, FFA, FHA, Spring Tri-Club, and Band. She and L.J. shared a profound love for the Lord and were devoted to raising their children with strong faith-based values. Together, they led by example – actively participating in church life and ensuring their home was grounded in love, faith, and service.

Once her three children were in school, Carleen took on the role of secretary at Bammel Baptist Church, where she served faithfully for many years. In the 1980's, she followed her creative passion and launched a small business - Poor Boy Ceramics – turning her love of ceramics into a thriving venture. With the help of her husband and youngest daughter, the business flourished for several years. After L.J. and Carleen sold their farm and moved to Spring, the Ceramic Shop closed, and Carleen began a new chapter working at the Wunsche School (Spring ISD). There, she assisted students with special needs – a role she deeply loved. Her compassion and dedication made a lasting impact on both the students and staff.

After retiring, Carleen remained active in the community through her involvement with AARP, where she served as both President and District Director. She and L.J. continued their lifelong commitment to service through the Spring Assistance Ministries, coordinating weekly meals for senior adults and organizing toy distributions for children in need at Christmas. One of their greatest blessings in life was to help others, especially children, seniors, and the elderly – offering kindness, compassion, and a generous heart to those who need it most.

Carleen was a ferocious domino player who cherished both the game and the fellowship it brought. While at Bammel Baptist, she coordinated the 42 Club, and in retirement, she continued playing regularly at the Spring Lodge, Immanuel Church of Spring, and with her cousins – always with laughter and a competitive spirit. For many years, Carleen and L.J. were dedicated organizers at Spring Baptist Church, planning special activities and bus excursions for seniors and friends. On Sunday mornings, they faithfully served as greeters, ensuring that everyone who walked through the church doors felt genuinely welcomed in the Lord's house.

Carleen was known for her polished appearance and her unwavering life mantra: "Get up, dress up, show up and never give up." No grass ever grew under her feet - she was always on the move living each day with purpose and energy. Her proactive approach to life and the values she lived by - hard work, manners, kindness, and respect - were lessons she passed down to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was their best cheerleader and most loyal supporter. Carleen leaves behind a legacy of strength, grace, and unconditional love – one that her family will forever cherish and carry in their hearts.

Carleen is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and May Goedecke; her beloved husband, L.J. Nagy; her brother, Robert Goedecke; her sisters, Mabel Andrews, Nellie Cadle, and Dorothy Salyers; and her grandson, Jerrad Carl Nagy.

She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her children: Steve (Cindy) Nagy, Carla (Jim) Voelkel, Willye (Mike) Sharpton; her grandsons: Steven (Crystal) Nagy, Colt (Sarah) Sharpton, Nickolas (Lindsey) Sharpton, Jace (Lindsay) Sharpton, and Joshua (Katelyn) Voelkel; and her great-grandchildren: Grace Nagy, Logan Nagy, Jackson Nagy, Noelle Nagy, Madison Sharpton, Mason Sharpton, Sabrina Nagy, Ellis Voelkel, Lane Sharpton, Bentley Nagy, Olivia Voelkel, Ford Sharpton, Jones Voelkel, and Charlee Sharpton.  She also leaves behind her dear friend, Gerald Perry, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were touched by her life.
