Obituary

Margarita "Margie" Flor Velasquez

1964-2016

Margie, loving mother and beloved wife, went to be with the Lord on July 27, 2016 at the tender age of 52, in her home in Cypress, TX, surrounded by her family.  She died after nearly a year long battle against brain cancer.

She is survived by her husband Ricardo J. Velasquez, her children Yvonne Valdez married to Eric Valdez, Viviana Velasquez, Mireya Velasquez, Madalina Velasquez and Sophie Velasquez; her grand-children, Eric "Sebastian" and Sara Valdez; her parents Consuelo Miller and Rocco Palamara; her brother; her sisters; numerous nephews and nieces and lots of close friends and family.  She will be reunited in Heaven with her beloved son, Ricardo Velasquez, Jr.; her brother Enrique Huerta and grand-mother Ampelia Espinoza.

Margie was born in Mexico on June 11, 1964 and as a teenager moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  She met her beloved husband in high school and after graduating from South Division High School, they married on April 28, 1984.   They started their family and eventually moved to Houston, Texas in 1998, where her passion for real estate flourished.  Margie later fulfilled her life long dream and earned her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration in 2004 from the University of Houston-Downtown, all while pregnant with Mireya, raising her children, and working a full time job.  After graduation, she soon quit her job and went on to open her own childcare center, and at one point had up to 4 centers total.   She was proud to create jobs for those in need, provide unconditional love to the needs of all her children enrolled at the centers and still maintain the ability to have a flexible schedule to tend to her own family.

Margie was full of energy and very much a go-getter.  She was self-motivated and always a positive thinker.  She had a heart of gold and always tried to help those around her get ahead in life.  She was an extra-ordinary woman and will be truly missed.
