Margaret Mae Schultz (née Jackson), age 85, passed on February 7th, 2023, from complications due to metastatic cancer. She is survived by her husband, David, and her children Deborah, Jonathan, Christopher and Sarah. She was predeceased by her daughter Diane and her brothers Charles and Larry and parents Hazel and Elbert.

She was born on August 11, 1937 in What Cheer, Iowa to Hazel Jackson (née Smith) and Elbert Jackson. She attended Newton High School in Newton, Iowa and was a majorette there. She went on to attend University of Iowa before she went on to become a flight attendant for Eastern Airlines where she was based out of New York City.

Margaret met her future husband, David Victor Schultz, in 1960 on a blind date before he was to enter the seminary and they were subsequently married in 1961 in Milwaukee, WI. She and David went on to have 5 children, one of whom, Diane Christine, died tragically from leukemia at age 7 in 1970. She was a picture of maternal stoicism, despite the trauma she suffered.

Perhaps as a result, she nurtured a sense of adventure about life and was always drawn to the arts, expressing herself by creating beauty in her home, through her baking, macramé, découpage, candle making, painting, knitting, crochet, sewing, quilting, singing, and home decorating.  She belonged to Dorcas guild who made quilts to send to overseas missions.  She was mostly a homemaker although she was a top earner for Avon in her younger years, at least partly due to her charm and warmth and her ability to connect with others in a meaningful way. The children have fond memories of her singing show tunes, especially Rogers & Hammerstein hits. She loved to read about the history of the Russian empire and the British monarchy. And her eldest granddaughter, Cora Lindsay, wife to Michelle Lindsay, fondly recalls Margaret's interactions with their children, Margaret's great-grandchildren, Croix Hazel and Luca Finn. The family holds dear to their hearts memories of holidays where Great Grandma Schultz would help with feeding her great grandchildren, encouraging their art, music and schooling efforts while sharing stories of her own life, perhaps trying to connect their future to the past.

She died in the Christian faith, with David, Deb, Cora and Michelle caring for her at her bedside, passing in peace.
