Margaret Jane McIntyre Memorial Biography

Margaret Jane's life story began on June 20th, 1939. Going by her middle name of Jane since a little girl she was the only child born to John Robert (Jack) and Gwen Boyes in Montreal, Canada. Jane grew up speaking both English and French, played a variety of sports and was a proud city kid living in the heart of Montreal.

Jane went on to attend Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada to study Fashion Merchandising. While in school she was offered an apparel buyer position in women's sportswear at a prestigious department store, Eaton's of Canada. Since she was living far away from home, her Mother and Father encouraged her to connect with some old family friends, the McIntyre's. Mac and Alice McIntyre invited her over for a Sunday supper and sent their son, John, to pick her up. A courtship began which led to Jane and John's marriage on September 16, 1961.

Jane gave birth to their first child, Susan, on October 8, 1965 in Toronto and stopped working. The new family moved to Galt (now called Cambridge), a small town west of Toronto where they had their second child, Robert, born July 19, 1968. John's job at the Royal Bank of Canada would relocate the family two more times within Canada - to Waterloo then Burlington, Ontario - before moving them to Dallas, Texas in 1975.

Jane and John bought their first home just outside of Dallas in the newly developing Richardson/Plano area. Three years later John was relocated again, this time to Houston in 1978. Aside from the possibility of moving to San Francisco, Jane and John would remain in Houston. In 2000 they both became U.S. Citizens and that same year they sold the house in Ponderosa Forest and bought into the new community of Village Creek in Tomball.

In the early 80's Jane took a job in the front office of Dr. Magness, a well-known orthodontist to most of northwest Houston. Jane worked there for 15 years and continually crossed paths with patients seemingly everywhere she went.

Jane became a Grandmother to boy and girl twins, Evan and Madison, born to Rob and Ami in Houston in 1997. Her third grandchild, Sophie Young, was born to Susan and Mark in Los Angeles in 2003. The twins had many wonderful "Gem day" outings and Sophie lovingly referred to her as "G-Ma". Family always came first for Jane so many trips to LA and the celebration of Rob's marriage to Lesley where among the highlights in her recent years.

Jane's outgoing and warm personality led her to join a wonderful group of ladies at the Cypress Creek Christian Church called the Craft Crowd. She found her calling organizing and helping to oversee the Annual Carousel of Crafts Show for many years. Jane made many friends in this group that would remain close to her throughout the rest of her life. Jane and John also connected with many wonderful folks in their Tomball subdivision and enjoyed such gatherings as a lively dinner group while Jane looked forward to her monthly game of ladies Bunco.

While Jane's children still contend that their Mom "never got sick" when they were growing up, her health began to decline in the last several years. She bravely dealt with failing kidneys and many other conditions that would slow her down.

On February 21, 2017, Jane quietly and comfortably passed away after a tough bout with pneumonia and kidney failure.

Jane will always be remembered as the loving center of her family, a generous, motivated and thoughtful woman and an endearing loyal friend.
