Obituary

Margaret Ruth Kell, 90 of Houston, Texas, passed away on August 19, 2021.

Known as Peggy to her family and friends, she was born Margaret Ruth Byers to Lydia Mary Ebbitts and Harry Morgan Byers in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania on December 4, 1930. She graduated from Wilkinsburg High School and went to work for Rockwell Manufacturing Company. While working at Rockwell, she joined the Rockwell Choir and met her future husband, David John Kell. Dave and Peggy were married on December 3, 1955. She left the business world to become a full-time wife and mother. They had two children, David and Lisa.

Peggy had many hobbies from making ceramic figurines to creating stained glass lamps and windows. She also enjoyed playing bridge, bowling, golfing and gardening. A non-drinker, Peggy and her husband made wine in the basement of their Pittsburgh home with Dave always sampling the final product! Peggy loved baking, especially at Christmas time when she hosted parties for family and friends. In later years, while living in Houston, Peggy and Dave traveled a lot to visit family and friends. They especially enjoyed taking their grandsons with them.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband and son. She is survived by her daughter, daughter-in-law, Alicia and 3 grandsons, David, Jonathan and Erik in addition to many family members and friends. She will be missed.

At Mrs. Kell's request, no funeral services will be held. For those desiring, contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital (www.stjude.org) or The Shriners Hospital for Children (www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org). The family of Margaret Kell thank Apex Oaks Assisted Living and Memory Care and Harbor Hospice for their loving care of Peggy.
