Mark passed away in Magnolia, Texas on May 18, 2020. He was 69 years young.

Marcus Roy Lane was born in Winnsboro, Texas on November 28, 1950 to the late Vernon Lane and Lyndia Black. He grew up predominantly in Lake Dallas, Texas, where he excelled in all sports, but most significantly in football. In high school, Mark was the football star, as he was in everything he did. He was also voted "Most Athletic", "Most Handsome", and "Mr. LDHS", to no one's surprise.

Mark began his career with the Houston Fire Department in 1975. He was also an EMT and the chauffeur of the ladder truck. He served 32 years before retiring from the Houston Fire Department in 2008. He also ran C&L Roofing, a very successful roofing and garage door business. When it came to his work, Mark did everything with dignity and diligence.

All who knew Mark knew his heart resided in the outdoors. He enjoyed golf, along with hunting and fishing being his greatest passion. He won countless awards and achievements through fishing, most of which were alongside his beloved wife Morna.

One would probably struggle to remember a time when they were to see only one without the other. Even in casual conversation, it's rare to mention just one of them. Just like the two names that flow so easily from our lips, Mark and Morna just seemed destined for each other and for 14 years of marriage, they shared everything in each others lives. Whether it was work or play, they were together, a team! A casual conversation with either one would quickly lead to one of them boasting about the other. Both are very proud of their chosen spouse.

Many may remember the story Mark told of how he introduced his new bride to bass fishing. A trip to Fayette County Lake produced not one, but TWO 7 lb bass for Morna that day and it seems they never looked back. They started fishing CAST in 2007 and have won anglers of the year on several occasions, the latest in 2019 and they were well on their way to making another run at it in 2020. Once again, as a team!

They also shared a passion for hunting as well. Once again, sharing the work before the season started with late Summer weekend trips to West Tx and enjoying the fruits of their labor when Fall rolled around.

Mark and Morna were excellent dinner hosts as well. If you ever left their home hungry after one of Marks rib eyes or Morna's many sides, it was not their fault. From the time you arrived at their home until you left, you always felt warm and welcomed by both of them. Just like everything else, a dinner party at the Lane's was a team effort by both of them.

After Mark's retirement and marriage to Morna he kept his roofing and garage door service going all the way up until he left us last week.  Just like fishing and hunting, if you saw Mark working, Morna was right there with him, carrying a ladder, bringing him tools, or making him a fabulous breakfast, lunch or dinner. They truly were a TEAM in every facet of life, all the way up until Mark's final hour.

All of us can take a few lessons from Mark and Morna. Take care of each other...enjoy and love each other and lastly, be proud of each other.

Mark was preceded in death by his mother and father, Vernon Lane and Lyndia Black, and his beautiful sister, Radonna Ford.

Mark is survived by his wife, Morna Lane; his two daughters, Holly Brown and Robin Sandusky; his stepdaughter, Michelle Beepat; his grandchildren, Samuel Sandusky and Daisy Sandusky; his brothers, Michael Lane and Mitch Black; and his sister, Lyndia "Ranell" Bland.

Friends are invited to visit with the family and pay their respects during a visitation to be held from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, at Klein Funeral Home - Tomball, 1400 W. Main, Tomball, TX 77375. Due to seating restrictions because of Covid-19, attendance at the funeral will be by invitation only. Following proper social distancing guidelines, the public is invited to attend the committal service at Carmen Nelson Bostick Cemetery, 12317 Holderrieth Road, Tomball, TX 77375, at approximately 2 p.m. Fire department honors will be rendered by the Houston Fire Department Honor Guard.
