Obituary

Manuel "Pops" Roberto Olivares, Jr. was born in West Palm Beach, Florida on July 2, 1945, and passed away in Houston, Texas on March 10, 2020.

After enjoying just a few months of retirement from Cy-Fair ISD in 2011, Bob returned to the district as a part-time Spanish translator. He also enjoyed volunteering at Bayou City Fellowship, serving in the English Gateway Program alongside his devoted partner and wife, Henrietta. Bob's greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, who lovingly referred to him as "Pops". Traveling to his grandsons' activities, spending time at his children's houses, or simply calling to say "Hi" were Pop's most-loved things to do with those who loved him most.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Manuel Roberto Olivares, Sr. and Ann Margaret Olivares.

Manuel is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Henrietta S. Olivares; his children, Manuel R. Olivares, III and wife Martha, Rochelle Olivares Barrow and husband M. Todd, and Veronica R. Olivares-Arasin and husband Matt; grandchildren, Colby Twardowski, Manuel Robert Olivares IV, M. Ian Barrow, and M. Ayden Arasin; and sisters, Ann M. Rodriguez, and Mary T. Moncivais.
