Manuel Ignacio Obituary

On Friday, July 8, 2022, beloved husband, father and grandfather Manuel Jambalos Ignacio, passed away at age 75 in Houston, Texas.

He will be greeted in Heaven by his father Amado Sr, mother Catalina, siblings Amado Jr, Linda, Clemen and Aristeo.  Waiting in heaven are also his best of friends, Alodia, Roger, Nestor, Rufino, and Bart.

Manuel, who was known by his family and friends as Manny, was born on March 15, 1947 in Laylay Boac Marinduque, a small island province in the Philippines.  He earned his accounting degree from San Beda University, a private Catholic university in Manila.  He practiced accounting and finance for his entire career, and most recently served as Chief Financial Officer of a hospital in Houston until his retirement.  Manny worked his way up to the CFO position after years of hard work and perseverance, qualities that he instilled in his children that enabled them to become successful in their respective industries.

On November 23, 1974, Manny married the love of his life Conchita in Chicago, Illinois, the city where they met when they first immigrated to the United States.  They were married for 48 years and raised two children, Colleen and Jay.  Colleen and Jay each have two children of their own.  Colleen's children are Arianna and Gabriella, and Jay's are Ian and Elliot.  Manny loved his four grandchildren very much and even though the years he spent with them were short lived, he was able to watch them grow and witness numerous events they participated in such as soccer games and other performances.

Manny embodied the American Dream and worked hard to become successful, but in the most benevolent way.  Despite his accomplishments he remained frugal, but only for himself.  He was a very generous person and would help people with any resources he could, whether financially or personally by helping them find career opportunities where he worked or within his network.  He created a non-profit foundation on behalf of his father and mother, Amado and Catalina, to assist in providing resources to educate the impoverished children in his hometown of Marinduque.  Through his foundation, his children Colleen and Jay will continue his legacy to educate the children of his hometown and counsel them to find career opportunities.

Manny is survived by his wife Conchita, daughter Colleen, son Jay, son in law Mike, daughter in law Jessica, granddaughters Arianna and Gabriella, grandsons Ian and Elliot, sister Fe, nephews Warren, Dale, Jed, Anthony and Mandy, and nieces Lisa and Lori.
