Manuel A. Boucha, 81, of Tomball, passed away August 13, 2019.
He was born November 4, 1937, in Pias, Portugal to the late Diogo A. Boucha and Maria Rosa Inacio.
Manuel was known for his determination and spirited personality. In the 1970s, he immigrated to New Jersey from Portugal with his wife and 3 kids. Arriving to a country where he did not speak the language or understand the culture, he persisted in creating a life for his family. He succeeded in fulfilling his lifelong dream by opening his own barber shop in New Jersey, incorporating his own style and the Portuguese culture. He became popular amongst the young crowd, becoming known as "O Barbeiro Antunes De Lisboa" (Barber Antunes of Lisbon)-- a title he was very proud of.
Manuel had a passion for music,
specifically Fado (a style of Portuguese music). Some of his favorite singers were
Amalia Rodriguez, Carlos Do Carmo, Jorge Ferreira, and Roberto Leal. S
occer was another love of his and it remained a component throughout his life. He was a founder and sponsor of the Portuguese Association of Sports in New Jersey. Benfica was his favorite Portuguese team, and in his later years, soccer remained a strong interest and hobby, especially the World Cup.
As an avid pool player, he enjoyed spending time with his family and others in the community at the Portuguese Instructive Social Club.
He spent his last couple of years in Houston, Texas where he and his wife lived with his youngest daughter.
He is survived by his wife, Maria Boucha; daughters, Anabela Carcamo, Ann-Marie Pires; son, Carlos Antunes; grandchildren, Maria Quinones, Carlos Antunes, Alberto Carcamo, Brittany Pires, and Brandon Pires; great grandchildren, Aaliyah Quinones and Jayden Carcamo; brother, Carlos Bouxa; and sister, Virginia Ferreira.
He will be forever missed by his family.
